The fact that we had to demand the rooms we booked. They kept insinuating that Booking.com got it wrong. The upgraded facility's was better than the original property booked.

This was an upgrade to another property owned by the same person. Definitely better than Central Hotel and Guest House

Unfortunately we arrived during a loadshedding and couldn’t access entry into the hotel. There is no internet during loadshedding which for international travellers is unacceptable! And couldn’t boil kettle to make first cup of coffee ( nicely provided ) Only one TV channel which of course didn’t work either! Very frustrating!

It’s right on the main street and the walls are thin. so if you’re looking for absolute peace and quiet, you might like something further up in the mountains of Simon’s Town.

This place is perfectly located in Simon’s Town, waking distance to many restaurants and a short walk from Boulders Beach. The balcony and courtyard are perfect for enjoying the weather and people watching. The breakfast is simple but nice. And the people are very sweet!!

Was some confusion about the booked room. First I got downgraded (!!) , maybe caused by an internet problem... so, the first night I did NOT had the promised, booked and paid sea view. They tried to compensate with a nice bottle of wine :-)

The Central Hotel has a fascinating past, which is told on the hotel’s lovely coffee mugs, one of which I bought as a souvenir. The room’s décor is in keeping with its 127-year-old history as a hotel, with a proper dressing table, cheval mirror and charming rattan chairs. However, the facilities are modern and the service is excellent. I am allergic to eggs and mushrooms, which usually downscales my English breakfast but not here. Shima, in charge of guest relations, and Ntombi, in charge of the kitchen went out of their way to give me a delightful and large breakfast every morning. The New Year was rung in with a chorus of ships’ horns in the harbour, which I viewed from the balcony. The hotel also has a set of rooms around a pleasant courtyard. Highly recommended.

The location is superb. If you like to stay in a place that dates back to the 18th century, crackling wooden floors and furniture that reminds you of your Grandma.... but also want to retire in a comfortable bed, super clean and modern Bathroom with a big wireless TV with Netflix... then don't miss out on this place !!!! Best value for money

We were told there was safe parking behind the hotel, that actually turned out to be a servitude road and problematic. During the day, the road outside is very noisy, but becomes less busy between 20h and 06h

It is very central. You can walk everywhere, that is why we booked there.

The room bit outdated and not secure- the outside door as well as the door to the room did not hold properly and especially at night during load shedding we were scared that somebody might enter while we were sleeping. A bit creepy. No electric backups. No breakfast info at all. Very noisy.

Sadly the booking was not fulfilled. They put me in a cheaper, poorly decorated room and blamed the error on Booking.com. Only the next day after showing proof did they transfer me. But we had already seen reviews on Booking.com of other guests having to insist on getting the correct room. The rooms need an upgrade urgently.
