The cleanliness of the place was not up to standard. Found a ball of hair as I stepped into the shower and I have a shaved head, so definitely not mine. Housekeeping was non-existent and we had to ask about it. Just our beds were made 1 day out of the 4 day stay, because the lady doing housekeeping decided to not clean our rooms. The food was okay, but everything is made in huge portions with A LOT of meat (even the salad). Pizza really doesn't need that amount of cheese. On the day of checkout, I waited for about 5 minutes before I walked to the kitchen to find someone to assist with check-out. They also didn't have proof of our payment and I had to assure the lady at front desk multiple times that we have paid online already (with her saying that all their guests normally pay there, asking me several times if I am sure that we paid, which was a bit annoying) resulting in me having to take out my phone to show her the email proof that we actually paid our bill. Shouldn't have a hotel sign as the 'hotel' rooms are exactly like self catering units. Definitely not the hotel experience we are used to. If we wanted a self-catering space, we would've booked such.

We loved the pool. Was a good size and could accommodate more guests at the same time. The location also provided us to see the whole Citrusdal and surrounding areas conveniently.

I didn't like the fact the hotel and the rest of Citrusdal had no electricity for for almost an entire day , that wasn't the problem though , the problem was that the hotel management failed to communicate with the guest about what was happening , so for the day since about 3pm we had no electricity till about 7am the next day .We weren't informed as to what was happening and what we should expect , we were all left in the dark till about 9pm , which then a generator was connected for about an 1hr @ 10pm everything was in darkness .Not even a lamp or battery led light or even a candle was given to us .This is what we Paid for , very unpleasantness towards guest .i am extremely disappointed in their service towards guest .

This was a dingy hotel in the middle of a dirty little town....NOT a "country lodge" by an figment of the imagination. The "pool and mountain view" was non existent...our view of of the dirty backyard of the hotel...see my photo

We were not put into the room that we booked on line, but this was addressed only when i complained and showed my booking, and asked where the facilities were . Room with a balcony onto a noisy street.

We were given a room "with view on the swimmingpool" - this room is old and the carpets are damp. The ventilation poor. The door opens on the veranda with a view on the swimmig pool, where a party was held with loud music. No chance of relaxing here. We were given another quieter and newer room after asking - same price, much better.

The staff at reception was very helpful and friendly.The breakfast was good for a 3 star hotel.

No secure parking - gates is always open, anyone can come into the property anytime, day or night. Our room was next to the bar's kitchen area, very noisy! The first floor, our ceiling, has wooden floors and it was very noisy. The guests just did not get to settle down, untill late! Friday afternoon was a ladies birthday celebration outside, 15 steps from our door. Saturday afternoon was a bridal shouwer, lots of ladies, 15 steps from our door! From 4pm there was a braai at the swimmingpool area, 20 steps from our door! 6pm we dedided to get out and went for dinner at another place. 9am the party was still going and the lady in charge said it was not guests of the hotel. We are not complaining guests, but this was a disaster stay for us. We only had 10days holiday from our business and we stayed in tranquil places to see the area and flowers, but o my word, the last 2 days got my bloodpressure up again. Maybe during the week will be better. Sorry!

Would it be possible to have a larger bed option? A double bed is to short for my partner and myself being 1,94m and 2,03m respectively. Maybe a King size extra length option ? I am even prepared to pay a surcharge for it. The toilet was not properly fastened to the floor. Resulting in a bit of a careful aim when sitting down on it.

The Staff was friendly and quite helpful. Rooms was neat and clean. The Air-conditioning worked very well in the cold weather, it was a real live saver.

Poor location:not a good variety of warm food for breakfast: the same everyday:kitchen staff not taking note of the details when I place my order at breakfast.waiting too long for eggs to be fried The "Hotfood " at Breakfast is actually luke warm: if for example you wait too long for toast, then the food is cold when you get to your table.I was offered a "View" of the pool, from the elevated floor,but only saw a metal roof when looking out the window. Bathroom essentials like soap,shampoo not available everyday as the usual 4 star hotels do.

Clean ,quiet room, Average price, for Average service. But not good enough to be classified as 4 star.

The location - I hadn't been to Citrusdal before and I guess I was thrown off by the name "Country" lodge. The town was busy and dirty on a Saturday afternoon and the lodge is located close to a bottle store so there was some partying and noise. There seemed to be a lot of stray cats and they were fighting during the night. The TV didn't work adequately in the Self Catering unit I stayed in. The signal quality was poor resulting in bad picture quality.

Breakfast was great. The staff were all friendly and welcoming and gave me recommendations on where I could look for wild flowers. The rooms were comfortable and neat. Loved the old/beautiful decor in the reception/breakfast areas.

The location is bad! That road is too busy, but the friendly staff and crispy clean rooms and excellent food makes up for that!!
