Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

KenyaElectric kettle was very dirty inside- could not use it. Shower gel ran out and was not refilled. South African electric plugs are round (type D or E) so come with an adapter if you have a different shape. However, one USB port is available in the room if you have a USB cable
Breakfast was great- filling and fair price. Cook was very accomodating to pack me a take away breakfast one morning on short notice. Pool was clean and warm. Owners were very kind and attentive. Armin gave me some crackers and a cooler to go with my wine while I was using the pool. Bed made and room cleaned every day. Very safe and quite neighbourhood. Coming back late at night is not a problem. Views of the mountains from the room. Excellent mall within 10 minute walking distance. A Methodist and an SDA church also within walking distance - 7 minutes. Fridge and microwave for guests is very handy. Cutlery and crockery also provided. Tea, coffee, sugar/sweetener provided in room with a kettle and cup.

United KingdomI wish I hadn’t arrived in the dark. I thought I had seen on the website that there was room for several cars but there was only room for two and luckily lots of people weren’t staying. I think I’m that area however it would have been very safe to leave the car on the road.
I was visiting my family who lived in Wynberg and didn’t have a spare room so for me this was a perfect Location.

The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The house was very clean and the decor was beautiful. The parking place was safe and the neighbourhood was fine. Restaurants can be reached with a 5 minutes walk.

South AfricaI was quite surprised that breakfast is not included in the price and charged additionally. Also that I had to pay extra for 500ml bottles of mineral water. Normally one would expect at least two complimentary bottles per day when paying more than R1000 a night. Even though the host was accommodating in making a plan around it, the parking is also not ideal as there is not sufficient parking for the amount of rooms.
The location is excellent as the property lies within walking distance to Cavendish Square, Newlands, shops, restaurants etc.
