The smell in the room was really intense and not nice. Maybe it's from the roof, I don't know, but we had to try to keep the windows open without having to deal with too many mosquitos all night...

The location is absolutley stunning and I would definitely recommend to spend at least a night there.

We did the vulture tour which was both interesting and fun. I'd suggest the staff enquire re picnics if there are any vegetarians in the group . Unpleasant smell of sewerage near reception (I know this might be difficult to fix ). Not sure if there was an oven/stove available in communal facilities for rondawels (we couldn't find one )? Would make self-catering a lot easier.

Loved the riverside view, the quiet, the friendly staff, the tours. Also the outdoor showers and the peacefulness of getting away to tranquillity.

WE got the Rondawel next to the outdoor bathroom. So the night trip was quite okay, and the morning shower had had the best nature view I ever had. The Valentine's Day dinner was fabulous!

The rooms are cozy, well equipped and we felt very safe. No problems at all to use outside toilet/shower even at night. Everything was very clean and we can only recommend the nearby restaurant in walking distance. Great food, exceptional wine cellar (ask for Brandon) and unbeatable views. We stayed three nights and there was a lot to see and do (also organised tours) in this wonderful reserve.

The comfort, the scenery, the facilities. Excellent walks and access to beaches. Beautiful pool. Excellent restaurant. An easy place to relax. Everyone was very friendly. Our accommodation in the rondawel was very comfortable. We were concerned not to have a private bathroom but that worked out fine and the shower was wonderful, with a grear view.

This is a beautiful and peaceful campsite. It's much more boutique than what I thought it would be. Very comfortable rooms and beds. The restaurant is really nice. Staff were great.

Absolutely amazing staff! Melanie is a joy! The rondavels are lovely, cleaned daily and good value. I loved the outdoor shower. Inquisitive dassies visiting daily and plains game all around were a bonus. Food at the restaurant was really good. We didn’t preorder meals and arrived late without supplies, but they made a plan for us! Thank you wonderful team!

The trails weren't well signaled.

The driveway to the property was already an adventure. As we arrived there were everywhere animals. It was amazing. The staff welcomed us very friendly and explained everything clearly. There is a lot to do and to see.

We really enjoyed our stay at De Hoop Nature Reserve on our South Africa round trip. The Rondawels were cosy, very clean and in a great location, right on the river. Each rondawel has its own washbasin. We didn't mind using the shared toilets and showers as they were well maintained and clean. Showering in the outdoor shower was a great experience. You have a view over the river but can't be watched by other people. The staff was very friendly and we would recommend a stay like this to anyone who likes animals and nature. We were able to watch whales from the shore!

We had an overnight stay in the "Flamingo" bungalow. It was all very impressive. We were greeted by ostriches, zebras and antelopes as soon as we entered the grounds. The bungalow was really nice, with everything you need and a view of the water. Simply beautiful. At the Restaurant in the evening there was a 3-course menu, this is highly recommended, so delicious.

De Hoop is a little corner of paradise. Such a wonderful experience and really good for the soul. The welcome we received at the check in was lovely and we were delighted to be upgraded to a stunning cottage - so kind of them. Everything was simply superb and I want to say a huge thank you to all the staff, especially the lovely lady on reception.

The animals on the reserve all stayed close to the property, making sightings east. The facilities were clean and nice. The employees were all very kind and helpful.

The track to arrive has many potholes/large rocks so be careful. They also cancelled the eco boat cruise in the morning at short notice.

Amazing animals all around and rondawel was very comfortable with tea making facilities.
