Dinner was a 3 course set menu, that was very expensive. This obviously is aimed at the overseas tourists, but there was no option for a more cost effective local tourist. Unfortunately we had not realised this, or would have come prepared to braii. Horseflies due to the plains game are a pest... come prepared.

The restaurant was absolutely not worth it - at least for dinner. You have to take a three course menu with 2 non-vegetarian or a vegetarian option, which we thought at first not to be expensive. The food tasted good. But we left with some hunger left hours later because we wated very long for our main course and the portions were very small. Staff seemed overwhelmed, complained in front of the guests to each other a couple of times (e.g. about having to serve a large family). All together worst restaurant experience I had in South Africa so far (still better than in some German restaurants though :D). Better bring your own BBQ food. They have wood and lighters at the reception and there's a little fireplace and equipment for BBQ in front of the huts.

From the outdoor shower you had a nice view over the river and some animals drinking there at sunset. Some of the Rondavels have that view , too, ours had some bushes in the way. There is a sink, a fridge and some kitchen equipment in the Rondavels.

Unlike lunch, diner isn't 'a la carte' - so you better like what's cooking (just the 1 dish, no options)- yet costs you double than lunch. Desert - which was part of the menu- did come in 2 options - however- availability had to be checked in the kitchen as if desert was something out of the ordinary. Dinner ended getting the wrong bill, being woken at our rondavel to sign off the corrected bill once they'd found out their error... The next day, we wanted to cancel the overpriced dinner to enjoy the 'a la carte' lunch instead but our reservation hadn't even made it into the system. That didn't surprise us at all because the organisation in the restaurant was a total mess, despite being low season. One would think being overstaffed added to the chaos.

Great location, great for birding! Modest entranceprices compared to the Sanparks.

We had to drive 50 minutes on a gravel, slip, and muddy road (it was very rainy days). Outside open shower, which was very cold on a rainy day, and there was no hot water. The toilet was outside as well. The staff at the reception wasn't friendly. In Rondavel's kitchen, there were no scotch and soap to wash the dishes. There are no paths in the hotel area, and on a rainy day, the whole area is muddy. They did not even leave a floor rag to prevent mud in the cabin. It isn't recommended to go there on rainy days because there's nothing to do there. You can't ride a bike, you can't go to a safari game drive, you can't use the swimming pool, and you can't walk on the beach. Furthermore, there is no internet in the Rondavels, and the cellular reception is very weak. We were supposed to stay there 2 nights and eventually left after 1 night.

Payment should be processed via the platform bookingcom. Had to transfer money separately which causes banking charges I need to cover. Blankets were not clean. One could expect this for the price. The restaurant offers high priced menu only for dinner and for breakfast. Better to bring your own food or test the brand new Sea Bistro with amazing ocean view and amazing food near Koppie Alleen Beach Parking (kitchen closes at 4pm).

Area is great to stay. Wildlife around the site.

The restaurant was okay, if you don‘t wanna do self-catering for dinner. But we wouldn’t come back another evening.

An exceptional place to stay. We really enjoyed the peace and nature! The houses are really comfortable and make it easy to relax!

expensive for what you get. not enough equipment to cook/clean and you have to use outdoor ablutions so you may as well be camping. Mostly seems geared towards international tourists with plenty of money to eat all meals at the restaurant rather than self cater. Not value for money ~ overpriced: the same value could pay for a incredible BnB elsewhere. Towels were in very poor condition, but otherwise (value for money aside) it was great!
