Anl oasis where the hosts make you feel welcome.The cottage was beautiful and spacious for the three of us. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast. The gardens are lovely and peaceful, and the pool is well taken care of and inviting.

De Opstal was an amazing place to stay, close to all attractions in Oudtshoorn. The hospitality was amazing, excellent rooms, great breakfast in an amazing setting.

There was absolutely nothing to complain about.

A amazing place to stay, with family history of the area eight generations. Not to missed. We loved the whole experience of staying in De Opstal Country Lodge. Our room was full of character over looking the most beautiful gardens. Breakfast amazing, try the home made marmalade. All staff more than expected.

We had a fantastic stay at the lodge. The accommodation was suitably very rustic but also very comfortable. The whole place was run like a big family home, very welcoming. The (8th generation) owner and her staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious. The lodge was perfectly located out of own but near an Ostrich farm and the Cango Caves.

Beautiful location with many outdoor gardens and a nice pool to rest and enjoy a glas of wine. It’s also a perfect starting point if you’re planning your Garden Route trip and want to visit the Cango Caves.

Comfortable rustic rooms reflecting Karoo hospitality. Air conditioned for the hot summer days! Excellent buffet and hot breakfast with fantastic local fruits in season. Fabulous cappucinos. Dinner availble at the property - so no need to venture out at night. Thank you to Mathilda and her team for a lovely stay. We will return.

Absolutely nothing to dislike

The whole venue was excellent. Accommodation was so comfortable didn’t want to leave. The restaurant is like being in a gorgeous farmhouse with delectable breakfast - superb. It would be a wonderful venue to hold a wedding.

Matilda and her staff goes above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The breakfast is awesome and served by very friendly staff. Matilda made sure to guide us on activities in the area that is a must to visit.

The food was the best with the most friendly staff I’ve ever met. They were very helpful, even helped us with our laundry for free. The owners welcomed us warmly. Staff keeping us informed of the meals. Their freshly baked bread/goodies were the best. We had a flat tyre and the owner was willing to take it to town for us and get it fixed. We will definitely be coming back.

Beautiful setting. Lots of old-world charm. Gardens were exquisite and our 2 rooms were beautiful. Everything about it was pure class. Great attention to detail with fresh flowers everywhere. Friendly hosts and staff. Wish I could have stayed longer!

Beautiful lodge with many small details. The rooms were huge and we had a small fire place which made it extra cosy. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our stay a lot and will definitely go back.

We enjoyed the variety at breakfast, and our rooms were lovely and comfortable. The gardens were lovely, and the kids enjoyed the pool! We appreciated the water in the fridges in the rooms as well.
