They were without power for approximately 11 days due to a storm/ eskom. We arrived a day before it would have been restored. Janine went out of her way to make our stay comfortable. Brought in camping fridge and we had lights throughout the house. Huge thumbs up.

The house was interestingly historic, with huge rooms and beautiful floors. Every thing was comfortable, clean and tidy. Due to no fault of our hosts there had been major damage to power lines in the district and there was no power during our stay. Our hosts had informed us of the situation before our arrival and had done everything they could to mitigate the problem. So the lack of power did not seriously detract from a very pleasant stay.

The venue was central to where we wanted to be. It was spacious, comfortable & well-equipped and the hosts were communicative before our stay and very helpful.

The underfloor heating takes 2 days to warm up... so would be nice if switched on before one arrives.

There was no way to heat the huge spaces effectively. Built in fireplaces were not effective at heating the rooms. (Perhaps being able to use the lovely old cast iron Aga stove in the kitchen could have helped.)

Very spacious house. Electric blankets and brushed cotton bedding made for a cosy night's sleep despite the freezing temperature. The house was clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. Lovely indoor braai area away from the cold. Inverter for load shedding.

The 2 staff members were brilliant. She even send a message to ask if we arrived safe at our next stop. Fantastic.

Obviously, it was no one's fault but part of our road trip was to stop off and see the stars as we had booked at the Observatory. Unfortunately, we passed through Sutherland on the cloudiest night, and so the people at the Observatory phoned us to cancel 😞

The house was amazing, with everything you needed. They thought of everything, including a coffee machine. The house has the feel of a home that has enjoyed many years of family time. We were only passing through on a family road trip, and so sadly, we could only stay the one night. Would love to have stayed longer. We will definitely be back.

Strong odour in the main bathroom and toilet

Spacious house with a large garden area. Entire property is fenced so our dog could enjoy herself. The antiques were a nice throwback.

for what we paid it was perfect, the rate could rise a little and the gardens tidied up a bit.

The character was brilliant massive place with parking at the rear , very close to the pub/restaurant

There is a swimming pool on the property but unfortunately it was not usable. This was a pity as the kids would have loved to swim even though it was not hot.

The property was very clean. We were allowed to check in earlier than the specified time, which was great. The person who was supposed to hand us the key was already at the property when we phoned.

Family bathroom shower water could be a little warmer compared to the en suite bathroom shower but I could still shower. I cant fail it on anything else.

Wow fantastic stay! What a beautiful home, takes you back a couple of years but with all the modern luxuries and ammenities. I will not be surprised if it falls in top 3 best looking and kept homes in Sutherland. Great wifi, beds, linen, electric blankets, smart tv, computer etc. The owner has thought of EVERYTHING a home needs trust me. We can highly recommend dont look further!

Main bedroom mattress was somewhat too soft for my taste, and the bed was incredibly creaky, so every time you turn over in bed, you and your partner are woken up.

The kitchen wasn't well equipped - there were not enough pots and some glasses were broken. The one bathroom smelled really bad from a sewerage issue outside the house.

It was a lovely large house. The beds were really comfortable. The common areas were great for entertaining. The property's communication was really good. The electric blankets were a really nice touch. The property was also very well located.
