Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ChinaOne of the hiking trails was blocked by a falling tree and bushes one week ago which was reported by a couple of guests to the Hotel management who didn’t take care of, this gave us some trouble when we got there. A bit of scary experience in the forest and the later on climbing up the cliff!
The beautiful view from in front of the hotel is stunning.

United KingdomThis is not a criticism of the retreat, but It is best to understand that there is approx 12km of gravel road to the location. This road is in decent condition, but it is best to have a vehicle with higher ground clearance than a normal car. However, this is a small price to pay for such a 'getaway'.
Paul and Patricia were very welcoming, sociable and friendly. Paul took us on, or showed us the local hikes. Indoor pool was a very welcome extra after a hot hike. Very relaxing getaway, with fabulous views. Great breakfasts and lovely staff. We had a large room on the ground floor, with views over the Drakensberg,

South AfricaThe gravel road was challenging. It would be great if they could at least scrape it. I understand tar is out of the question as this will cost a lot. But maintenance to that road is seriously needed.
I would like to express our greatest appreciation to your hospitality over our short period we stayed with you. Once again, all compliments to everyone there, we thoroughly enjoyed the food, appreciated the gardens, absolutely enjoyed the pool and we felt at home from the start.

South AfricaI think it a gravel road it’s makes the distance longer since we were traveling using small car.
The staff members were friendly and accommodating. The resort it self was breathtaking. The views, fresh air and the horses everything was beyond our imagination. The pictures on the website don’t do justice to place. Oh I nearly forgot the pool, spacious.

United Kingdomthe list of hiking trails which are open and cleared is out of date
We had a great time here and would highly recommend it. We needed a base for hiking, playing golf at the amphitheatre golf club and a little bit of relaxation. We chose this place because it provided on-site dinner, bed and breakfast and the walks looked good. The room was clean and well serviced each day and Paul and Patricia were always friendly and there when you needed them and they left you alone when you did not. There is a very good full day of hiking on and around their land, if you combine the various routes they suggest and add on a few extensions here and there( note- a few of the advertised walks no longer work and should be updated on their website). The general quality of food was good but the icing on the cake for us was the Mauritian curry they provided for us on the last night. We have had a range of excellent curries in 15 countries around the world( we recently counted them). We both love authentic and well-cooked curries. Patricia has a family recipe which her own cook now seems to have improved upon. The lamb curry they cooked for us that night was absolutely exceptional – which is astonishing for a mountain lodge up in the Drakensberg mountains. Their Mauritian lamb curry was in the top 3 curries of all time for me, across those 15 countries i recently counted where we had eaten them (including india, sri lanka, Indonesia, UK, Thailand, South africa…….). I know I am going on too long about the food, but a memorable evening meal can be a big factor in how enjoyable your day has been. So, give this place a try if you want high ridge and contour walks in the Drakensberg (eg the devils spine hike with an extra 2km off-piste contour walk along to the monster hanging rock through the protea) and if you like good food and wine and nice people.
