Sometime the maintenance staff takes long to attend to our requests, but they came eventually and sorted out our issues

The foot bench in the lounge was filthy, the bed’s mattress was broken , nothing was done about it when reported to reception. There were lights hanging from the ceiling and also lights that were not working. The heater in the bathroom was not working. We stayed in Berg View.

It was peaceful and the scenery was breathtaking! The Spa was absolutely amazing!

Kitchen was very poorly equipped. Two rooms had outside entrances and wasn't part of the main house, was inconvenient as we travelled with small children.

Our apartment was flooding both bathrooms, the stove was not working had to be replaced midmorning the following day. On the first evening we struggled to get attention from the reception because the phones were not answered until 22h30 when the rude duty manager told me that he was going to help us by moving us to the below the standard house blaming his colleagues who didn't update him about the issues in the house we booked. He was so rude until I told him that my calls are recorded. The houses could also do with irons and ironing boards, the whole block needed an iron on Sunday morning when we were all checking out. It's was not a pleasant situation over the iron. Otherwise, the venue is absolutely beautiful we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless. It was my birthday weekend with my friends.

It wasn’t maintained. Paint peeling off the walls, stuff lying everywhere on the property. Not the cleanest either. Staff not friendly. (Besides 2)

They mixed up our booking, we booked a self catering unit, with bath, mountain view. Then they initially placed us in the hotel rooms, close to the restaurant, and told us that bookings.com made a mistake. We then complained at the desk, and they booked us in the self catering unit with lake view, which was nice. There was crack in the window, also broken bathroom cupboard and broken television. but it was still okay. The Gourmet burger at the restaurant was Definity not gourmet, and my husband also said the chips was made with old oil. Also the one morning they got confused with if we have breakfast included or not. Which we clearly had according to our booking.

We arrived around 9 and the reception was locked already we found our key at the security with minimal information and it was dark because of load shedding, we had no lights for the majority of the time that we were there. the following day 1883 didn't want to serve us lunch because they couldn't find the key to start their generator . they eventually found the key and switched on their generator and we ordered food. There was also no complementary tea in our unit which was disappointing.

The massage place was excellent , their service was good and their facilities were great. The place is beautiful but the load shedding made our experience unpleasant.

At the end of our stay we experienced elecricity problems, we thought it was part of the Loadshedding schedule but came to know that it wasn't and reported it.

The scenery was absolutely beautiful, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the location of chalet 32. Situated central and quite close to everything.

Could not get the TV to work on out first night. WIFI was also not that great

Little odds and end in the chalet wasn't very well thought out, the draw in the room could not open due to the fitting of the cupboard was not measured correctly, the TV and DSTV wasn't working, picture frame in bedroom was put up incorrectly, looks like it fell off the original hook but no effort was made to fix it so they just hung it sideways on a different hook. Other than these the rooms are great.

The reception staff was absolutely poor in their conduct. Angela came across as cheeky upon our arrival, and we were not provided with proper welcome information. When I reported to her that we noted hairs on the bed linen and stains in the bathroom she offered no apology or explanation. We were told it would be cleaned as per our request, but this was not the case. The rooms were not cleaned adequately. The staff generally lacked hospitality and proper etiquette. Reception staff gets the lowest rating overall, I would highly recommend they get training on how to address guests and be professional in their conduct.

The rooms are beautiful with comfortable beds. The two outstanding staff members that were excellent are Sipho at the 1883 restaurant and Sibongile from the spa. I would like to relay a sincere thank you for the excellent treatment we received from Sipho and the staff at the spa. They made this place worthy of a positive review.

There were people walking to the pool, singing loudly and disrupting the peace of other guests, no need to make noise in such a place. The restaurant food was also just OK, my son had a rump steak and it was mostly fat. We got no soap in our unit, not sure if this is the norm or if the cleaning staff just forgot to place in our unit.

Beautiful view and well kept grounds, good place to get together with friends and family. Also a good place if you need to really relax and just enjoy nature.

Saw two roaches by our seating area while having dinner. But I was satisfied with how the situation was handled. Apart from that, everything was fine.

It’s an all-encompassing location, you don’t have to travel out once you check in. Love the range of activities. Staff is friendly.

No wifi. There are plenty of add on payments after arriving. Notably, you are required to buy a pass for each vehicle on arrival, and they don’t allow you to leave without the slip. Furtuer, everything else costs money on the property. The staff is poorly trained. No one could tell me which fish they had in which dams. The safes in the rooms don't work. The stack doors can't close. No hair dryer. No firewood.

The room we were in had no electric kettle for tea/coffee and it was taken up with people from reception in the morning during breakfast only to be rectified in the afternoon after another request The room’s curtain rail was also broken The duvet cover we slept it had a blood stain on the inside, not obvious to the public eye

Upon arrival, we went to have dinner in the restaurant (which was relatively empty at the time) and one of the waitresses thought it would be funny to joke infront of the rest of the staff that "sorry there was no space for us" when I asked for a table, before she burst into laughter with the rest of her colleagues at my expense. We then were seated and served by another waitress who seemed very disinterested in her job - we had to keep calling her to ask for service. When we checked into our room, it was clear that someone had slept in the bed during the day. Honestly all of this is unacceptable for any establishment, but for the price we paid, this was absolutely appalling. We made the best of the weekend despite the above, but I certainly will not be back. Some of the staff were wonderful, but most of the staff we encountered had a serious attitude problem and clearly had not had any hospitality training.

The mattress in our room was very bad. It was worn out and resulted in getting up every morning with a stiff and aching back. We tried to turn the mattress to see if it would make a difference but sadly it did not.

Very friendly and accommodating staff from gate guard to cleaning personnel. When there was a query staff engaged immediately to assist. Being able to have breakfast and dinner at the lodge. Wide variety of experiences available at the lodge.
