Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BrazilWe had some issues with the WiFi, but nothing major and this is expected in a nature surrounded environment
Everything at Elephant Plains was amazing. The room was very cozy and very clean, the food was great and the game drives were outstanding. Our guide Nick went above and beyond to get us close to the animals. I 100% recommend this place to everyone!

CanadaWe drove ourselves to the lodge and did not realize how bad the roads were to the lodge. Thinking it would only take 1.5h-2hrs it actually took us 3.5hrs. Our car was literally rocking back and forth the entire way there.
Beautiful lodge, wonderful staff, excellent food. Wished we had stay for a few more days. The game drives were so much fun. Nick was absolutely wonderful in answering all of our questions. Highly recommend this lodge!

SwitzerlandThe roads to the lodge for self drive guests are terrible, It was the worst road I have driven in my whole life and I am 66. This should be mentioned by the lodge to better plan the stay. Due to these unplanned delays we missed lunch and arrived totally stressed to our sunset safari, we barely made it. The food is ok, but not in line with expectations for such an expensive place. The shower room is open and flooded the bathroom. Drinks during the safari are not necessary and add no value, better extend the safari
Safaris were excellent and we saw a lion, giraffes and a leopard. The facilities are great, the room was enormous and comfortable. The architecture is modern. The service was very good. We were offered drinks after the safari.

United KingdomThe terrible road which leads to Sabi Sands. I’d fly there next time. The bed was too firm for us and the pillows were the worst I’ve had at this standard of hotel.
The lodge was amazing with plenty of space and offered a fabulous veranda with views of the plains. The complimentary drinks and snacks on arrival and on game drives were a lovely treat. All the staff were incredible, extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The manager Kel and Ranger Jordan are both a credit to Elephant Plains. They did their upmost to ensure we had a fabulous time, which we did. The game drives were the highlight of our stay followed by a lovely soak in the deep luxury bath at the end of the day.

Amazing lodge and staff. The game drives were great, and so was the bush walk. There’s a boundary that safaris can’t cross, but the area is large enough to see most animals. Big thanks to the hospitality of the staff!

AustraliaNot much. Just that we wished we could have stayed longer.
Breakfast was good, catering for all tastes. Had a cooked breakfast or continental depending on that day's preference. Enjoyed options of tea, varieties of coffee and hot chocolate and/or fruit juices. All meals provided options and food was tasty and there was plenty of it. Enjoyed the evening drinks breaks during drives and felt very special to come back to the lodge and find a choice of cocktails awaiting us. The most amazing experiences and wild life sightings made this an outstanding holiday. We liked the fact we could fit in a morning drive on the day of departure. Made our day.

United StatesRoads getting to the lodge are full of potholes for miles, stressful driving. Our game driver was hard to understand and his stories were rambling and generalized, the only minor disappointment from our previous visit.
Room had lovely decor and comfortable bed. Food was delicious with good presentation. We visited six years ago and fell in love with Elephant Plains. The facilities and experience was as wonderful now as before. Animals plentiful in the area.

NorwayIt had been a a lot of rain the last period before we arrived. So much that we were not sure it would be possible to go on gamedrives!? But during our stay, there where no more rain, and we got much more then what we could hope for! A huge thanks to Chris- our tracker, and Nicholas- our guide, to make the drives (and walkes) some of the greatest drives we've experienced! Very knowledgeable in all animals, birds and plants. Elephant Plains is a place we felt at home, in a very relaxed atmosphere! Great food, great accommodation and a lovely staff!

CanadaWOW WOW WOW!! I wish I could give one million stars. I’m already thinking of when I can come back. The place is absolutely perfect, the lodge is modern, clean, beautiful, in the perfect spot. I saw elephants and rhino right from the pool. The monkeys were adorable too. The staff were amazing, they made the experience so personalized, and really paid extra attention to every detail, even my many food allergies. The food was amazing, and I’m an extremely picky eater. Drinks were awesome. And of course most importantly the drives were awesome!! Doctor and Colbert went above and beyond to find us every animal we wanted to see. I was blown away at how close we got to the animals, especially the lions. Doctor is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in the bush. I stayed in the upgraded rooms and it was unbelievable. The other smaller rooms looked a bit dated, but the type I stayed in couldn’t have been better. The only thing I could say would be an improvement is if they warned people how long the drive in is. On gps it will say it’s a short time but it was actually over 2 hours longer than it said due to poor road quality. There weren’t many signs on the route, so it felt like I was completely lost many times, you really have to track the kms on each road listed by the map that they send. Overal I can’t believe it’s only listed as 4 stars, because it’s a 5 for sure. I don’t want to go anywhere else in SA now!
