How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

No air conditioning, no en-suite bathroom, with the bedroom & separate bathroom opening onto communal living room. Rather inconvenient. Not mentioned in the room description when booking the room.
Neat & clean, with usual facilities. It is also ideally located near Century City.

The only negative was that there was no soap in the shower.
I arrived late and left early so honestly I cannot provide a realistic opinion. I had a comfortable evening, the room was clean and I was able to get some work done. I selected this location as it was in close proximity to where I had meetings the following day.

No hangers in the second room No night stand in the second room DSTV connection was not perfect and needs a 24 hour connection. This issue needs to be addressed. For a family of 4 people hot water was not enough, this needs tobe addressed

The bed was a bit uncomfortable and the pipes makes a lot of noise in the middle of the night.
Excellent host, she is very friendly and helpful. The price is also great value for money.

Alarm kept on going off and other inconsiderate guests were hooting/honking at around 3:00 am on my last night. Later on that morning I learnt that the main automated gate was faulty, which I suppose explained the anxious and inconsiderate guest. As it was cold and raining in Cape Town, bedside mats would have been a nice addition.
TV in room and lounge with Smart TV options (NetFlix, UTube etc.). Adequate coffee/tea. Secure and accessible parking. Wonderful hosts. Excellent WiFi

When we got home the night after finishing all our activies the main TV in the lounge and wifi did not work it spoiled our movie night.We also got lost a little bit because most of the houses in the area looks alike and the fact that there was only two couches was not cool although the guys had a blast with it us girls had to sit at the dining table , not great if u want to watch a movie.
We were pleasantly surprised & happy that the property looked exactly like the pictures.We had an amazing experience in Milnerton theres alot of nice stuff to do & the propery is located in a nice area.Mimi was a very friendly host she made us feel welcome.This was really one of the best properties we have visited so far🙂👌❤ . Keep up the great hospitality Mimi💯

The place was perfect , just like the pictures. Mimi has a lovely place and is so friendly and helpful !! The place is spacious , clean and affordable. It was a lovely experience to stay here, would love to say longer next time. Thank you Mimi for such a wonderful place and your friendliness. Load shedding was a pain in the backside, but not really much you can do about that. The suggestion made to Mimi was to invest in some sort of backup power supply for essentials like lighting and perhaps the television and WiFi to keep busy while being stranded in the 'dark'
We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found that Elmed Guest House was exactly as advertised. Mimi really has a place to be proud of. Keep up the good work and you'll surely make a success of your venture.

The fact that Booking.com send me a confirmation email the same morning saying that everything is appoved! 1st time that this happened to me, next time i will double check everything.
Even though i got double booked Mimi, the owner of the house organized me a place for the night😊I will make sure to use her next time!
