Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. NetherlandsWe had an incredible stay at the lodge. The staff was so friendly and made sure our stay would be unforgettable. Besides that, Sara made sure our traveling went as smoothly as possible so that was really nice. Also, the game drives were beautiful, we would recommend the morning drives but also a visit to Kruger is definitely worth it. Also, the view from the lodge itself was already unbelievable, we saw elephants, hippo's, giraffes, impalas, and monkeys. The food was also really good, and the atmosphere was at dinner was magical. In overall we had an amazing experience here! We would definitely recommend staying here.

AustraliaWe loved our stay at Emhosheni. We stayed 2 nights at 2 different safari lodges and this was our pick as the best. Our adult daughter & her husband stayed in one of the deluxe tents : it looked spotless, new & beautiful, excellent bathroom. Because the weather was hot, the tent got hot, but it has air conditioning & anyway they were rarely in the tent during day time - there's plenty of comfortable indoor & outdoor places to be, at the lodge. Our rondavel with river view was beautifully cool without using the A/C , despite the hot weather, and was very tastefully built & finished. Lodge has plenty of decks, lawns, balconies, outdoor sun chairs etc to relax on, lovely BBQ pit area, pool. We spent hours watching the wildlife come and go immediately out front, between lodge and river. Just read the other positive reviews because they cover it.

South AfricaWe were staying for 4 nights, thoroughly loved everything about our stay however the food/menu was not properly planned. At some point we had chicken stew for dinner and plain yoghurt as dessert lol. I am glad a new chef came into play a day before our departure, made a huge difference. In terms of food I would give them a 5/10 Attention to details 5/10 Service 9/10 Eric and Sonia were just amazing

Netherlands-
We had a fantastic stay at Emhosheni. The staff at the Lodge goes out of their way to make you as comfortable as possible. Delicious food served every day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were perfect! Also, the Game Drives we booked through the lodge were super fun. Dennis was a great ranger who knew a lot about all the wildlife in Kruger. The location of the lodge is also great! We were lucky enough to spot an awful lot of animals along the river. We saw lions, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, monkeys, impalas. It was fantastic! We were incredibly lucky. Andrew, Sonia and the entire staff of Emhosheni, thank you so much for the wonderful days and your hospitality.

Amazing stay at Emhosheni River Lodge. We chose the place for its location, and it didn't disappoint. There were many animals coming to the river that could be seen straight from our room! So if you're not going for game drives, you can still see a lot from the lodge. The team is also great, they create a truly family atmosphere. Each day they surprised us with something, such as dinner outside with candles or dinner by the fire or bush walk to the river. We felt taken care of each moment of our stay. Especially we'd like to thanks Tim, who is such a great person and brought different guests together so we chatted like old friends. At the end when we were leaving it felt like going away from a family. In terms of facilities, the lodge is quite small, so aside from the pool, there are not many things to do, and you can't go outside of it because of the animals. We were quite happy to just chill by the pool, but it might be an issue for some people. The Wi-fi is good enough for such a distant place. The food was lovely, breakfast the same each day consisting of eggs, cereal, fruit, cheese etc. We usually had a salad or some kind of sandwich for lunch and three course dinner, different every day. The lodge can also help you booking the tour to Kruger park or boat tour and other activities. Two game drives per day are also available each day. Overall I'd highly recommend Emhosheni River Lodge, it was a great value for money, and we loved every minute of our stay.

The lodge's location overlooking the Olifants River was fantastic, we were able to sit back and watch various animals, including giraffes, hippos, baboons, warthogs and impala wonder by. The staff were exceptional, including our two very knowledgable guides, Keegan and David, who insured that we were spoiled for animal sightings on our game drives. Shout out to Lushia, who prepared our delicious meals and Eric, who was always ready to attend to our every need.

NetherlandsWe did see enough animals, but in the other parts of Kruger we have seen more because of the less dense bushfields. But there you do not have a nice river view.
What a lovely stay. Upon on arrival your bags get taken from the car and they drive the car to the parking lot. The offer you a cold wet towel and a cold drink. The accommodation is situated at the Elephant River and has a gorgeous view on the hill at the other side. At our arrival on the other side Giraffes, Zebra's, Impala and Monkeys where are visible. Dinner was every time served on a different spot of the garden, in very cozy places. The waiter offered exceptional hospitality. Very kind and nice. The food was also very good. Compliments for the chef. Marijke, the manager, was so helpful that she helped us to book last minute our next accommodation in Greater Kruger and let us enjoy the last hours around the pool. Safari's where great to, we say giraffes, antilopes, elephants, zebra's and a male lion having a drink and later that night going for a walk.

We loved everything about Emhosheni! We were welcomed by Mareycke and Ishmael with hot towels when we arrived and we were completely looked after until we left. We stayed in the 2 bedroom chalet with our 2 adult children. Our chalet was beautiful, comfortable and clean, the view was spectacular and the food was delicious! We loved our safaris with Keagan finding us many animals both big and small! We would definitely recommend the Emhosheni River Lodge.

The lodge enjoys a great location on the Olifants river so we spotted a number of antelope, lion, elephant, baboon, hippo, crocodile, just from the chairs on the deck. Keagan the game ranger is a great asset to Emhosheni as his knowledge of the bush is excellent and we learnt a great deal from him. In fact, every member of the general staff (including Keagan) made our stay memorable, they couldn’t do enough and are genuinely pleasant people to be around.

United KingdomIt was very expensive for what we got. We've stayed at other lodges in the same reserve and had a much more lux experience at the same price point. The accommodation was nice but a bit tired. Could do with a refresh. Lack of attention to detail - things like an empty container with biscuit crumbs in it left in the room - was it supposed to be filled with biscuits for us? No nice/ lux touches in the bathroom (toiletries, supplies etc). Not even face clothes. Two half rolls of toilet paper supplied. It was a two room chalet (sleeps 4) but only had seating inside for two people. The lighting was very poor - so dark you could barely see what was in your suitcase. Overall the staff were friendly but it did feel like we were a bit of a bother to them at times. Meals were very rushed, tables being cleared before you'd even finished. Meals were generally good and the chef enthusiastic. But some of the quality was lacking - for example, terrible processed sliced bread (sometimes frozen) served for toasting at breakfast. Cheap margarine rather than butter. That kind of thing. Wine was super expensive for what in SA were quite inexpensive mass produced vineyard brands. (Bring your own!). The biggest issue though was the game drives. We had one guide for 4 of the 6 drives we did who was absolutely rubbish. He seemed to have no real passion for the bush or any real interest in conservation. He didn't take time to show us interesting smaller things like birds or discuss the flora or habits or fauna. He had no books with him (eg bird books) or even his own set of binoculars. We saw a lot of game, not difficult in this reserve if you're there for a few days. (And we spotted most of it ourselves). This is unusual for a bush guide in SA and certainly not the standard expected when paying for a personal bush guide.
Stunning location on the river.
