Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

AustraliaMy daughter did not stay in this villa, after being given the key two hours later than the check-in time, as the host was still trying to dry and iron the linen (in this room) while we were trying to drop my daughter's suitcase off so that we could freshen up after travelling internationally for 28 hours (really keen to go and see our relatives). The host blamed the weather, we had been trying to contact the host numerous times since landing in South Africa. The accommodation had plastic camping chairs, mould, no outdoor furniture, bird faeces all over the patio, unsafe looking wiring...we immediately made an alternative booking through Booking.com for the Private Apartment at Ocean View Villas, and checked-in there instead, that was perfect. The other Villa we had booked on site. F16. was perfect!
After viewing the villa/apartment we decided that it was unsafe to stay there due to the dodgy wiring and mould.

South AfricaThe room is a studio and not a one bedroom. There is no actual representation of the room on the site. The room was not locked when we arrived. It was not cleaned when we arrived after the previous guest and the contact person was not willing to assist with options. He wanted us to pay extra for a different room and then send the cleaning lady to beg us not to request a refund with her job on the line if we walked. The contact person was of no help at all. We didn't get a refund so the lady would not lose her job. We ended up not even staying at the apartment.
Nothing about the actual room, the cleaning lady was lovely and she did a good job after we complained to the contact person. The view was beautiful.

South AfricaThe fact that we arrived during loadshedding and the facility was dark dark dark, we literally used our phones to check for room numbers. The information was unavailable, the workers on duty were so lazy.....even to answer simple questions like nearest stores!!! The balcony had just a mop!!! Haaaaa not even a foldable table for morning tea!!!
The location was perfect, near many attractions like Wild Coast Casino and Game reserves and just around the corner of my congress.
