Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

South AfricaThe property was very underwhelming especially after reading the reviews, I had high expectations. It did look like the pictures however a lot more worn out. We were given a room with a faulty toilet and the excuse was the plumber apparently had not come to fix the toilet in time. The water in the toilet was running the whole night, it honestly was so annoying. At first entrance the place had a very distinctive odd smell, we later pinned it down to the blankets and the carpet. It got so unbearable to the point where we had to place the blankets in the cupboards. There was cracks almost everywhere, it looked pretty unclean as well. There’s mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and one of the towel racks were falling apart. The shower has no soap holder so it makes showering rather tedious. The WiFi has poor coverage, majority of the time we were not connected and their DSTv package only includes a few channels. I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for a long time stay. Their check out according to Booking.com is 10:30 however they were already knocking at our door at 10:20 asking us to leave. I thought that was pretty unpleasant. We were out by 10:30.
It is situated in a gated community which makes you feel at ease about the safety of the place. It also had easy access. The gate was open at all times so we didn’t have to wait for the security to open for us when we arrived at midnight. The water very hot. There were road signs of the place which made it easy to locate.
