How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

perhaps the property could offer dinner at request as I have noticed there is a chef? nothing fancy but the usual South African delicacies (steak/meat and pap/veggies)
this was not the 1st time I visited the venue hence my return. More than anything the staff makes the stay exceptional as there is no need to say much about the property except that its wonderful.

I would have loved a balcony or direct access to outside for the room, although we sat at the pool area for dinner and it was very nice.

Didn't like that I had arranged for a milk substitute which wasn't available. Didn't like that the manager was smoking outside in our vicinity which resulted in me having a massive sinus headache the following day.
Liked the fact that it was very central. Liked the interior with it's art and decor. Liked the pool. Liked the breakfast

When loadshedding switches off and one, the magnetic door closer apparently sometimes disengages. We were travelling with a work colleague and at 2am she woke up to her door being wide open. She spent the whole night worrying if someone had a key to her room. Advance warning may have resulted in a little less stress.
Very comfortable and the cost was reasonable. Close to all relevant facilities such as restaurants, shopping etc. We were well looked after by the staff.

Definitely not 5 star accommodation. On arrival we were greeted and then asked if we had just booked as they weren't aware of our arrival / booking. Not very professional. The bathroom is very outdated, horrible old hair drier that doesn't even work. We had no hot water when we wanted to shower (not acceptable). We were then told that you have timers on your geysers so that's why we didn't have hot water at 12:00. No plug for spare hair dryer. Hair dryer was sticky. No mirror at the table to dry hair and do make up... so for ladies it's not great getting ready. The towels were thin and old (not 5 star). Gowns were also old and shabby. Attention to detail is missing. Although the manager was very friendly and welcoming, he needs to realise that guests don't want to be caught talking for 45mins at a time. The stay was pleasant enough except for those problems but I feel that the value for money is not good. You definitely can't say that you are a 5 star hotel.
Room was nice and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good. Ladies were great

Black mildew and mould in the bathroom. I am very particular about bathrooms so unfortunately this really affected my stay. I did not expect this at a 5 star establishment. Stayed in the White Seringa room and there was mould on the bathroom roof and mildew all around the bathtub sealant.
Staff were friendly and the we really enjoyed our breakfast. Bed was big and comfy. Room was very spacious.

Decor/ tiny pool/ plastic chairs for patio/ location
very disappointed by property and location. To promote this property as 5 star is a misrepresentation of significant proportion.

The initial room was very small and the subsequent room had no hot water for the first two days. We had stayed here before and were satisfied the first time round
The location was perfect. This property is close to all relevant places including shopping. The breakfast was fine and the room itself was great.
