How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Really nothing related to the place. Just the weather that was foggy.
Great place to stay in Plett. François and his wife are just the loveliest hosts. The room we stayed was the green one; it was spacious, with a large and clean bathroom and a comfortable bed. It should have great views of the bay, although it was foggy when we were there. For the night, you can park inside the gate, which is very safe. Finally, the breakfast was fantastic, one of the best we had in our trip. The outside area is also great for hanging around, we didn't enjoy much because it was foggy.

Could not think of anything!
Perfectly situated, close to stores and the beach. Accommodation was great. The hosts Marinda and Francois were so welcoming. The breakfasts were wonderful - fresh ingredients and exactly at the time requested. Every piece of the stay was packed with attention to detail by the hosts.

We liked everything. Couldn’t be improved on.
The breakfast was excellent. We were made to feel so welcome. It was like visiting friends rather than just staying in a guest house.

This was by far our best stay in South Africa. Not only the view from the terrace and our room was beautiful, but especially the hosts are lovely, welcoming and help you out with whatever you need. They gave us great recommendations which never disappointed. They put a lot of effort in small details, which made our stay so comfortable. The breakfast was unbelievable and cared for. Overall a 10 out of 10 and we will definitely come back.

Our hosts were amazing. So friendly and gave us great reccomendations for our stay as well as for our next stop. Breakfast was delicious and there was lots of lovely little touches that made our stay so much better such as beach towels, muffins for our drive when we left, and a huge bed. We really loved our stay here!

Francois and Marinda gave us a very warm welcome. They are very caring people. The dog Jessie is amazing! They help you planning the day if you want, they have good advise for going out for dinner. Room is very comfortable. We had a lovely stay, thank you very much!

Lovely room on upper story with a comfy and cute communal balcony area with stunning view of Plett. Safe gated parking. Within walking distance from everything. Super lovely and friendly hosts. Most delicious and filling breakfasts. Honestly, what more could you ask for?

Super friendly hosts - both very extraordinary helpful with advice for going out, further travels and full service around the clock! Breakfast - self made by our hosts - was amazing!! Blue Room - ours - had a great ocean view, absolutely recommendable! Jessi - the owners dog - might pay you a visit sometime ;-)

Honestly can’t fault it.
Everything!! The most amazing hosts who bend over backwards to ensure we had a safe and comfortable stay. Breakfast each morning was amazing!! Great proximity to Main Street of Plett. Safe and secure care parking.

Lovely hosts, who gave us some fantastic recommendations for food and activities. The best breakfasts we had during our 2 week trip to South Africa. The dogs and cat were also very friendly!

Francois and Marinda set a standard that must be difficult to emulate. They clearly love hosting each and every guest. The place is spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable and the breakfast was exquisite, with special touches each day. Added to that, there is also access to a guest kitchen with other special treats! As well as lots of activities a short drive in the local area, with there are many excellent restaurants in safe walkable distance. We really enjoyed our stay at Franmarel and would highly recommend it.

Our host Francois was very helpfull and knowledgable about the things to do, places to eat. Breakfeast is marvelous. Location is ideal in a safe neighborhoud on walking distance from the main street and some top restaurants. The B&B has very spacious common spaces for hot as well as cold days.

We were in the yellow room. The views from the decking were amazing. Francois and Marinda were lovely hosts ,couldn't have been kinder. The b&b is close to quite a few restaurants. Dolphins and whales can be seen in the bay.
