Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaI found the communication from the reservations team was quite poor. I asked to book a treatment beforehand and was told they will get back to me. No one got back to me. When i checked in at 2 I was then told i have a treatment in 15 min. Thank goodness i actually checked in when i did. Then when the bill arrived at the end of my stay they had forgotten to put my treatment on the bill. If i was not honest I could have left without paying for my treatment. I had joined the dinner that was prepared by n private sjef in the evening at the main house and then had to walk in the dark back to the other house. Although the food was very delicious, i did find it allot of food and maybe a bit much for one night and very rich after a massage treatment. R850 for the meal I felt was maybe a bit expensive. I would not have minded if there was a lighter more cheaper option for dinner. I know they dont always have dinner options, but maybe they should think about it, as i found once i was there I did not want to go out again. Especially after having a spa treatment.
The setting and the area is absolutely beautiful. The staff was amazing once I was there. They made my stay so comfortable. It was lovely meeting Ed and hearing all about his Koi fish. Georgia at the spa gave the best treatment and Sam our consierge was phenominal and extremely kind. My bed was very comfortable and the views spectacular.

United KingdomA minor observation but we did notice that sound does travel through the property which I assume is due to the construction and possibly the concrete floors. A hire car would also be beneficial as we did spend quite a bit on taxis moving about.
This Sanctuary is quite simply out of this world and was the perfect choice for our honeymoon week spent in Cape Town. Its hard to put into words simply how magnificent this place is with all it has to offer. The staff are quite simply amazing and go out of there way to make you feel so welcomed from the minute you enter and couldn't do more to ensure your stay is everything you would want it to be. I do hope the owners of Future Sound appreciate the job their fabulous staff do to ensure your stay is everything you hope it would be. We were fortunate enough to eat most nights on our own as other guests were dining out meaning we basically had a the luxury of a private chef on those nights. The food never disappointed and was always prepared and presented to a high standard with wine to complement. We would 100% look at staying here again if we were to visit Cape Town.

United KingdomFrom the products / decor to the fine details this calm oasis is a total chill out experience. The staff are incredible and one in particular prince was outstanding. You might only need a few days here to unwind as a couple and meet from great guests but the way this space is designed you can’t help but feel at home .

GermanyThe stairs leading to the upper floor of the room are definetely not an option for elderly people. The concept of one big shared table for all the guests may be part of the intended overall experience but may not be everybody's favourite, especially if you preferred some more privacy when eating.
Fantastic architecture and peaceful surroundings. Heated Pool. Beautiful gardens. Friendliness of staff. Breakfast options. Room with outdoor shower and balcony.

United KingdomWhen we checked in, no one explained to us that all food and drink was included in our room price; we only discovered this by accident on our last night! Such a shame as we would have made more of it, especially given the relatively high price per night for Cape Town. You definitely need a car or taxi to explore the area, as the property is in a very residential neighborhood that isn't really suitable for walking. Final point, it was hard to tell who worked at the hotel, as the staff changed quite a lot during our stay, and weren't always easily findable across the grounds.
Beautiful property in the residential area of Constantia. The best thing about this property is that all food and drink is included in your room price, so make the most of it! All of the food was delicious, our room was huge and absolutely beautiful, as was the decor throughout the rest of the hotel. The heated pool was a bonus, plus it's open all evening.

NetherlandsThere was nothing to dislike. Before you arrive make sure you have booked lunch and dinner which they serve at a long table. This was not advertised or offered so we were not able to join and needed to book a restaurant outside, which was not our preference due to the location. Same for the wonderful treatments. The hotel also does have two different parts. One „Bali“ style area Maison Noir and a super modern part Villa Verde which we preferred. This is not clear in the booking.com description so we were lucky to enjoy the style we love.
Beautiful hilltop setting in a lush green garden between Constantia and Houtbay. Private villa atmosphere. Quality equipment and tasteful design. Very friendly staff. Heated pool, gym, sensational spa and yoga facilities and courses. Definitely recommend!

ItalyConsidering the substantial price we paid (over 1k euro per night), I anticipated a higher standard. Unfortunately, the room cleanliness fell short of my expectations, and the absence of any welcoming gestures was disappointing, especially considering they're commonplace even in more budget-friendly accommodations. It would be beneficial for establishments catering to high spenders to provide a more thoughtful experience.

United KingdomNot a thing!
The property really is a sanctuary. Tucked away in amazing landscaped gardens, it is incredibly private and relaxing. We stayed in the two bedroom mountain villa, which is expansive and has its own private pool. The space is huge and beautifully designed, it is a home rather than a holiday rental. This means you have everything you need to self cater, including a huge braai and outdoor eating area, but can also join in Maison Noir for meals. The staff were wonderful, so friendly, welcoming and nothing was ever a problem. Treatments were superb, yoga, massages and facials all excellent.

United KingdomThere was nothing that we didn't like but the only thing that could be improved (but only because we're all gym bunnies) would be to have a second running machine in the gym as there were often people waiting.
This hotel is a rare gem, we feel so lucky to have found it. The team are all warm and wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. Nicole was so very kind and patient in sorting out many complicated amendments that arose (due to changes on our part) to our original booking. Keenan, who looked after us throughout our stay, anticipated our every need and was always ready with a smile and a kind word. The meals served at the communal table, were delicious and we really enjoyed meeting the other guests each night over dinner. The location is stunning, and everywhere is within easy reach. We can't recommend highly enough. We will be back.
