Bathrooms and very tough rump steaks.

Location very convenient, eclectic buildings shabby chic, beautiful gardens, food only average,, no towel hooks or rails in the bathroom, secure parking and a great pub - so all in all a memorable if not a bit of an unusual stopover.

It is a lovely country hotel set in a beautiful garden. The staff are friendly and welcoming, and it makes a perfect stop between Durban and Pretoria.

Staff were very helpful and friendly. They made sure we were ok and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were good and reasonably priced. The gardens looked lovely even though we had rain throughout our stay. The silent movies and history displayed was a nice touch. An excellent midway stopover Joburg- Durban, we would definitely stay again.

the fact that pets are allowed anywhere and in the dining hall. This is not only agains health and safety regulations but can cause problems for people with allergies.

The property is well situated. The gardens are lovely and the food is amazing!

The bathrooms are starting to need an upgrade. There is evidence of mould starting to grow which could be easily dealt with if attended to quickly. I thought the breakfast was on the expensive side for what was served however our cottage had self catering facilities so we could have had breakfast in our unit.

The location is ideal for people travelling between Johannesburg and Durban. The gardens are beautiful with blooming roses and well mowed lawns. We had a separate cottage which was fenced off for our dog. The dinner was very good and we enjoyed the interaction with other guests in the bar before dinner.

The only negative was in the Restaurant. Food and service from one Waitress was Suberb. One waitress, however, was forgetfull and quite slow and we kept having to request assistance from the other lady.

Lovely hotel experience. Amazingly friendly staff. Incredible atmosphere and sense of history.
