Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaIn the shower the roof has an opening and there will be leaves on the shower floor. Also the space near the window in the bedroom there was alot of mosquitoes and bugs due to the. We had a frog in the room due to opening space below the door. Only if they close those spaces.
The private pool and rooftop was amazing. The location is perfect not far from shops. The privacy is perfect minimum interaction with staff.

South AfricaYou should invest in good quality beds and bedding!! Most of your windoes have this space that makes bugs and mosquitoes easoly enter the house. You need to get hanging hooks in the bathroom. Your stove did not ignite when we tried to makr coffee, IF YOU CAN, consuder a normal electrical ketttle. Maybe a shelter by the sliding door??
Its a quite hifeaway place...

South AfricaPool was not very clean so I could not use it. The shower and bathroom were not very clean. Also it was Difficult to have a shower because you didn't have much control of the hot and cold water so it was either too hot or too cold.
The location was perfect!! Amazing views of the stars and mountains at night. The fireplace was also awesome!

South AfricaThen it’s started raining our house was flooded, the gaps between windows/doors which allowed bugs in. At 23:46 we heard a long knock on the door while we were sleeping, again the knock at 03:12 which I don’t understand what was that for. Otherwise it was fun
The space, it was quiet, good for someone who wants to get away from the noise.

South AfricaThe place was extremely hot; it almost drove me back home. When I booked the place, I was under the impression that we could fish. I made contact with the owner the same day, and he confirmed that we could fish and provided advice on bait to use. However, upon arrival, there was no place to fish. If I had known this upfront, I would never have booked this place in the first place.
The concept is awesome, very private

South AfricaNever got to check in, hosts were unreachable. Walked around the place, pools were filthy. Stairs leading to rooftop 👎🏽. The unit we were supposed to check in to, it's glass doors had gaps so anything from the bushes that can slide through can come in and harm us. To top it off their policy states they aren't liable for the guest's safety. Blessing in disguise that we couldn't check in. Pregnant as I am, my stay there could have been very uncomfortable.
Liked that it was private, the place has a potential. Just needs a lot of work.

South AfricaSo many things! "ECO": First of all, one cannot call oneself an "Eco Bush Lodge" if there is very little aspect that can be classified as "eco" on the property. I was thoroughly disgusted by the way the owners are bulldozing the environment without properly restoring it (I attach photos). Not only is harmful practice, but it a massive eye-sore for visitors! Rude host and bad communication: When we reached the property there was no clear indication of which unit we are in (in the email it simply stated "4", but it wasn't obvious that this was a unit#). When I phoned the number, the host was rude and sarcastic ("How should I know? You booked it!"). When we eventually reached the correct unit the key was not in the door as she mentioned. I phoned again, and she suggested looking under the rug (where I found it). She blamed the cleaner who is "temperamental" and that's why the key is not in the right place. This was extremely unprofessional and unasked for!! Access: The dirt road to reach the property is extremely bad and although this is not a problem per se, it was not stated when we made the booking. Unrefined: 1) There is a weird unfinished pool/ dam/ water mass at the back of the units, which attracts a lot of mosquitoes. Ventilation in the unit itself is quite bad, and the floor fan only worked on one setting (the knob at the top is broken so it can't be set to stay still, it automatically rotates). In the summer heat is was very uncomfortable. 2) There is a struggling fiddle-leaf fig tree in the living room that is dying a slow death. Don't have plants in units that you don't intend to take care of! Same for the struggling plant by the unit entrance!! Horrible bedding: The bedding is very cheap! An full additional set of bedding chills on an open shelf in the bedroom, which in summer will defintely not be used!!
Honestly, we were very disappointed with this stay (I'll elaborate in the section below). Basically the only thing we liked was that it was located close to the wedding we attended (which was at a rather remote venue quite far from the town itself. So generally not a great location). Other than that there was very little that I liked.

South AfricaMy husband and I recently got married and were in need of accommodation for the Sunday evening. That's when we discovered Hartbeest Eco Lodge. What an idyllic, tranquil, and well-maintained establishment! The atmosphere was incredibly serene and relaxing, complemented by a nice view. The private splash pool was an absolute highlight - it truly enhanced our experience. I would characterise this lodge as a hidden gem. Every essential amenity was readily available, contributing to our delightful stay. We had an amazing experience and wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful getaway.

South AfricaDon't advertise Free WiFi, if it's not working. We had work to do, and couldn't. Had to go to public places to do work. There is a mobile signal, that wasn't a problem.
The calm feeling of the place. The View is stunning. The Staff is really great. The pool is a great cool off, will sit and chill the entire day in it.
