How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Really well run establishment. Great staff and facilities, very relaxed atmosphere, quiet with on site parking. Easy walking distance to the centre of town. Nice common area to mix with other guests.

This is a great backpackers! We had a double bed with a bunk bed. Kitchen facilities and fridge were perfect. Beds very comfortable. Added bonus was the fan in our room. We were only there for a night but could have stayed longer.

Amazing staff, super helpful and really friendly place. Exceptionally clean, well equipped kitchen and plenty of fridge space. Nice communal areas. Great location!

We had a nearly 24hour power failure in the block and I had online meetings - Ulf's support was outstanding- far beyond what somebody could expect from a landlord. Thank you so much.

Nothing- really it’s perfect!
Very welcoming! Jacqueline is the best 🥰. It’s extremely clean (they were cleaning in between the railings!) and comfortable in every way: good wifi, 2 kitchen areas to cook, 2 lounge areas, outside area with pool, rooms are very spacious, hot water, close to water front and restos. There are lights for load shedding and wifi still works! And it’s quiet :)

Hayley and Jacqueline were both great! Gave great recommendations on what to do in the area, even when my activities got cancelled because of the weather! Comfy beds, very clean and a nice chilled atmosphere.

Of course in a Dorm you have to deal with people.i chose a dorm, but changed it to a private room when I was there. Of course I had to pay the difference, but that’s normal
Love the staff! It is super clean! Love it so much. Have been here before and will definitely come back. Location is also really good.

Everything was great! View and location could be better but not a must. It is a short and safe walk to the city centre and to the coast.
Jacqueline is an amazing host (very welcoming and friendly, providing all info needed upfront). The accommodation is superb: very comfortable and spacious rooms (including kitchen and bathrooms). Very clean and tidy, close to the city centre and the dorm is a great value.

What an amazing backpackers. So comfy, so clean, so relaxing and quiet thanks to its location. I absolutely loved everything about my stay there, from the friendly and welcoming management and staff, to the beautiful facilities, the well-equipped and very functional kitchens and so on. There is everything you need, from a strong wifi signal and some lighting during load sheddings, to large and (quiet!) wooden lockers, and beautiful common areas with nice couches and television set. There's even a swimming pool and very pleasant backyard. I really wish I could have stayed longer. The owner's dog is so cute, too...

Everything you expect from a back packers with a very nice vibe. Opted for a budget stay in Hermanus to be able to spend my budget on the fantastic vineyards in the area.

Super friendly host. This place belong to a mother and son. They received us with so beautiful vibe and smile. Got room with big queen bed and 2 single bed. The shared shower was super clean with great hot water. All the facilities was super good condition and there is pool and family vibe with so great kitchen and many travelers. Also they give you great tips for where to go and what to do.

Perfect location, nice setting, super sweet ladys on reception, spacious kitchen with all the gear you need for preparing your breakfast. Nice and spacious Family ensuite room upstairs. Super clean and confy beds.

Jacqueline was so friendly and welcoming. She gave us great advice on restaurants and things to do. The hostel was great value for money and a short walk into town. Would highly recommend.

Due to recent weather event the tap water wasn’t advised to drink.

The property is marvellous. Very nicely curated and efficiently run. Leon, on behalf of the host, helped with local know-how of the town (places to eat, things to do). This was very useful.
