How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Great location. Not too far to drive too from Johannesburg airport. Nice local restaurant The wild fig tree. Lovely view from the room and balcony across the garden and out to the hills. Lovely cooked breakfast was in the dinning room with a log fire. We had a couple of lovely day trips, one to Lisbon Falls (including a walk and swim at the bottom) and a walk to see in the Three Rondavels.

Table im room would have been useful
Reception and host were perfect - very friendly and informative. Heating blankets helpful. Patio was nicely in the sun.

Maybe a fan or aircon would be a great. Was humid and hot and plenty of mosquitos. Would have helped for both.
Rooms were spacious and clean. There was solar so we never had load shedding. Nice verandah and view. Safe Parking.

It was our first day of holiday and we were asked to have breakfast between 7 and 8 and after that the owner told us he had an appointement and asked us to leave early. Pity as we wanted to go slow.

Nothing to write in this column as the guesthouse met our needs in all aspects. The room is serviced daily and clean towels were provided daily - the stay was really enjoyable! No changes theteore.
Owners are very professional, friendly and helpful - the rooms are spacious and delightful. The mountain view is just fantastic! The breakfast is included and tailored especially... thank you Brett and Sherie - we will see you again!

This Country House impressed me upon arrival with its comfort, large rooms and well-groomed garden. The impression as you come back home, and not arrive at the hotel. The couple Sherie and Brett are amazingly hospitable. Cleanliness, convenience, every little thing of life is taken into account. Absolutely safe area, no barbed wire on the fence. The location is perfect between Panorama Route and the airport (MQP) . The hosts even made the book with instructions about activities near their location. The breakfast is amazing, we enjoyed the serving, the atmosphere and the quality and taste of a hearty breakfast. With experience of staying in hundreds of hotels in dozens of countries, we wholeheartedly recommend this Country House and its wonderful hosts with a maximum rating of 10. And keep in mind that you need to book a room in it in advance. With respect to all travelers

There was nothing that we did not like!
Stunning accommodation and personal touch by the Lady of the House with the breakfast was really very special. Just sorry was one night only - next time will definitely stay longer. The place was very central to a lot of scenic things to do. Will definitely go back and highly recommended!

Downside was that there is nowhere near to have dinner and especially after a long drive you do not want to wonder out and go back to town when you have the perfect location to spend a quiet evening. We were told that you can order dinner in advance, but we only decided to drive as far as Sabie on the same day and apparently it was too late for ordering. Maybe some help your self solution could be provided.
Peace!!! A a lovely country stile house in a very quiet environment. The room is large, the fridge is full with a variety of drinks and so you can enjoy the wonderful tranquility and the view of the mountains on your private and large terrace. The next morning we were welcome by Brett who made us a lovely breakfast and was ever so helpful and friendly .

I am sinuses person so carpets dnt do it for me, even when they are clean my nose still reacts to them.
The host was very courteous. The house very homily and no tv in the bedroom was a suprise but great.

Very easy to find firstly. Super warm welcome from Brett & Sherie. The view was amazing from our room. One of the cleanest places we’ve stayed in. Great breakfast and homely feel.
