There was no communication from the property when my booking was confirmed, which is contrary to other establishments who have a "looking forward to having you" communique - which gives you an overview of the area and what to expect. They are also not proactive as there's a number of experiences that require pre-booking and yet the property does not warn you ahead of your arrival e.g. Elephant Whispers. Service is slow - there was not enough toilet paper in our chalet as the cleaner did not replenish and it took 30 mins to have it delivered to our chalet. They must also be prepared for unforeseen circumstances e.g. power failure (which is something to be expected when you're in South Africa) - on the morning there was no power, breakfast was chaotic and it was overall an unpleasant experience. Some staff members need customer service training - they give you attitude when you suggest they can still achieve the same outcome by just doing things differently e.g. the lady that insisted I tell her what my room number was an she'll ask my children separately what their room is and I repeatedly indicated they are both my rooms and the girls are behind me so there's no need to ask us separately. When we checked-in it was raining and the guy that attended to us had no umbrella. He walked us to our chalets in the rain and got wet along the way - they must pay attention to giving staff the right tools.

The property is beautiful and well kept - I like its overall set-up, the pools, the view of the river from the restaurant, its location is also ideal to explore key Mpumalanga tourist attractions. Watching crocodiles and hippos at a stone throw distance was also magical. We were lucky on our last day to see the 5 elephants from Elephant Whispers strolling across the river.

The tv only played the 4 basic channels and it lost signal in the am's. The shower floor wasn't that much clean but you'd miss it if you aren't observant and the hot water ran out quick. Oh the room didn't have a microwave, it could also do with a proper long mirror

The room was spacious, the bed was big and comfortable. The view on the country estate restaurant where we had breakfast was to die for, we even spotted elephants across the river

The TV only the local channel was expecting to see other channels besides SABC - the quality of the image was shocking, very snowy

There was a domestic cat roaming between the units, chasing after and terorising the indigenous birds in the garden. I hated that! Having a domestic cat roaming around and chasing the birds was a spoiler. The gravel road to the front gate is riddled with potholes.

Power outage, which was above the management control. But they did their best to continue with business as usual.

Some of it needs updating. No tvs in our challets while others had. Something should be done about the insects falling on your head all night

No Internet during my stay. . Had to ask for toilet paper and then reception had to take from another room as housekeeping seems to be a different department altogether and weren't available. .

Bedding very comfortable.. Rondavel quite nice. Lovely view with elephant in view. Nice restaurant.

When the room was closed there was a moldy/ damp would smell which causes a lot of irritation.
