Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NetherlandsWe had a wonderfull stay. We did get a upgrade in room and may sleep in the Presidential Suite. Xavier welcomed us in a wonderful and friendly way, he waited by his gate. Please make sure you rent a SUV, you won't regret it. After a tour through the Lodge, Xavier made us a very delicious and tastefull diner. He is a real good chef. We had this diner in his garden close to all the animals! Just lovely! Also the breakfast in the morning was great, with homemade bread. We enjoyed our stay! The Lodge has all needed facilities you need. When you are near Hoedspruit this is the Lodge to be!

United KingdomI think we were really lucky to stay in the main house as a family group. If we had been in the lodges they are beautiful but a little remote, involving a drive.
Breakfast was great at Hippomoon. We couldn’t have asked for more attentive service from Xavier. We stayed in the main house (not the lodges) which was huge with fantastic decor. The terrace, pool & fire pit with outlook onto feeding station for the wild animals eg Zebra & antelopes was spectacular. We opted for the additional charge to have dinner on the terrace at night. The food was excellent. Xavier is the most attentive host we have ever stayed with going way beyond what you would normally expect. He took the time to show us around his estate and share his animals with us. Memorable encounter with his giraffe. Expert at helping plan activities to do during our stay.

United KingdomXavier was the most impressive host imaginable. It was an unforgettable stay, thanks to his hospitality and culinary skills. We had the fortune of seeing two baby giraffes on his reserve and Xavier took us around in the morning on a safari. The rooms are an eclectic mix of art and beautifully interior design and the views in the morning out to the mountains are spectacular. Thank you for our stay it will forever be in our memories.

Xavier is an absolutely amazing host with a jaw-droppingly beautiful property. This isn’t a hotel, this is an experience. Each night, Xavier prepared a delicious dinner for us to enjoy and even took into account all dietary restrictions. Hippomoon was the highlight of our South African honeymoon.

GermanyWe enjoyed an outstanding experience at the lodge. The premium accommodation and surrounding wildlife were impressive, but what really stood out was the exceptional hospitality of the host, who cooked delicious dinners, showed us around his land and animals (we could touch a giraffe!!) and provided valuable advice for our trip! Thx Xavier!

PolandVery original place with a good vibe! Xavier (the owner) will make your stay special. You won’t be bored with him as he has plenty to offer and will perfectly organise your stay in the area. He has a lot of animals in the surroundings. Definitely place for dog lovers (he has plenty of them). Moreover, he cooks delicious meals himself! Worth to mention that we’ve got upgraded :)

it was a great stay. We stayed for four days. There's just nothing missing. Xavier is a pretty nice host who makes you feel at ease. we just felt at home with him. He arranged everything for us. A boat and parorama trip and a full day to Kruger Park. After a long day in Kruger Park, he was waiting for us with delicious ice-cold mojitos. Food was also very tasty. Xavier is a great cook.

Most importantly the staff was incredible, amazing. I have never travelled and met such humble, polite people who are always willing to go an extra mile just to make your stay memorable. The food was divine, the owner French chef zavier was on point. They even baked me a special birthday cake. The cake was scrumptious. . They managed to put me at ease since I am scared of animals. . The property is well kept, it's beautiful, and very peaceful. I must definitely re-visit. I loved everything about the establishment.thank you again for upgraded room

South AfricaI believe the cleanliness overall could be improved. And also a little consideration for the geusts. We aren't smokers and it would have been nice to eat breakfast at the table without the smoke.
