We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.

United KingdomThe hotel offers a three course set menu for dinner which is served on site. My husband and I are vegetarian, we were surprised at the very limited veggie options available. More surprising was the fact that the veggie menu costs the same as the standard (R400). For context, we were served a jacket potato as our main vs. a kudu steak with sides for the regular menu. This was rather upsetting, particularly since they had advanced notice of our dietary restrictions. Overall the food was a letdown for us but we otherwise we really enjoyed our stay.
The setting is very beautiful. Great views from our room and the dining area. The room was spacious and clean. We especially enjoyed the outdoor shower.

GermanyThe fact that the internet did not work properly did not bother us. However, I would have liked more comfortable pool loungers. The metal loungers should be equipped with a cushion. In the evening a three course menu was served. That is my only real criticism. The food was way too massive. On the second evening I did without appetizers and desserts and was still stuffed. It lacks freshness (salad, light soup and especially smaller portions).
Already the reception was great, we got a different room category than booked, room and bathroom are very spacious with fantastic views of the valley. Before dinner guests could enjoy a sundowner and the view on the terrace. The staff is very well trained (service from right) friendly and attentive. The booked tour to Addo Elephant Park was very well organized, incl. packed lunch. Before departure our car was washed.

United StatesIt’s a bit of a drive past the town of Addo to the turn off, and then a gravel road to the entrance followed by another couple of kilometers on a gravel road to the property. The views are out across farmland rather than wilderness.
The villa was a lovely, large, thatched roof cottage with antique furniture and a four poster bed. Large balcony. Nice pool. The restaurant was great with an interesting selection including kudu and eland. Staff were all friendly and helpful, especially Edwin. The game drive into Addo that they arranged with Saul was exceptionally good.

South AfricaThough they have a great range of wines, they have a limited number of beers and other beverages available, though the range is large enough for you to pick an alternative poison.
Hitgeheim is a treasure, with the quiet noise of birdsong and lush gardens isolating you from the arid environment outside. Views are to die for, overlooking the citrus orchards and spekboom thickets of the Sundays river valley. The staff are hyper-attentive without being bothersome, the food incredible and the accommodation providing luxurious but understated old world charm and privacy. Lots of birdlife, lots of scurrying tortoises and mammals like grysbok, impala and zebra will keep you entertained on walkabaouts through the farm, or you can simply feel like a king (or queen) lounging at the pool area. Guided safaris are available and I would recommend their in-house game ranger, Saul, any day. Addo is close enough to travel to daily, and Hitgeheim also provides a great base to explore the rest of the Sundays river valley and beyond. Breakfasts are great, dinner is exquisite, though you should tell them in advance if you are vegetarian/vegan, as most dishes feature sizeable portions of meat (cooked to perfection!).
