However, the house wasn't as great as I expected. There was loadshedding (which is understandable, but when there is loadshedding there is no water, which was very frustrating). I recommend that the host just put an emergency light in the house as it was pitch dark during the evenings without light. Also, there was a lot of fleas (which is also understandable because of the horses), but no flea candles or anything? The braai area needs to be upgraded. There is a huge garden with more than enough space for a stoep and bigger braai area, but the one provided is a few metres from the house and not very inviting.

The estate was breathtaking when we drove in, I was in awe, so my expectations were high for the house (Mooi Lodge) we rented. The host Desi, did go out of her way to courier my glasses back to me in Pretoria which I do appreciate.

The interior architecture of the chalet very bad. Toilet shower reachable only thru kitchen. Furniture stylise but extremely uncomfortable. Eg to watch tv had to sit on a bed with no backrest.

there is a generator used during loadshedding but the area is susceptible to power outages for lengthy periods due to storms at certain times of the year. this affects power and water.

good accommodation situated away from it all on a beautiful working farm about 20 min drive inland from Nottingham Road central. good flyfishing. no cell phone signal but has WiFi.

No reliable phone connections . it was difficult to contact the property . Once we finally got the right mobile number WhatsApp communication worked fine.

Country location was lovely. Chalet very clean and comfortable.

Booking.com overbooked us and we didnt get the unit we originally booked online so the host accommodated us by moving us to the last open unit which was smaller. 3 venomous snakes spotted during our stay which made me a little uneasy on our walks. 2 smaller snakes (night adder and red lipped herald) found close to the units and an adult cobra at the McNab dam.

The host Sasha was so helpful and friendly and helped make our stay enjoyable despite being downgraded to a small unit. The views are breathtaking and you are fully surrounded by nature in all its glory. Dams are well stocked with Trout, but strictly catch and release only.

We rented a room in homestead. Firstly we were over charged, R3400 per night for a room with a leaking toilet which they were not able to fix, so we had a leaking toilet throughout the duration of our stay, this is absolutely unacceptable. About 85% of the time we had no power, the generator was faulty, we were also told it could not be kept on during all the power failures. As a result we had no WiFi and no connectivity at all. This means we had no form of communication most of the time we were there. The door in our room was broken, we were locked into our room on two occasions because there was a problem with the door, as a result we had to leave our door open, not only unlocked but open because the owner could not fix it. The shower is extremely old and broken down, there is mould on the tiles and the shower curtain. This is the most horrible place I have ever stayed in. I wish I had remembered to take pictures to share what a nightmare this experience was.

Everything else from the time we reached, you could never get through to anyone, phone signal terrible, no.proper signage. Office to check in was closed...when you got through to a number no one answered. Place in a bundu, nothing to do. I paid 6800 and was moved last minute into 2 tiny 1 bedroom almost shack like dwelling which was freezing. The bathroom leaked into the room if you can call that 6m x 6m dwelling. Wifi sucked while you had it and then it went off and you were literally stuck until the next morning. It rained so the place was full of mud couldn't take a walk or anything. Will never ever stay here again even if you paid me.....what a waste of our hard earned money. 2 days I can write off from my holiday.

The hut could have had a shower No DStv in unit. We couldn’t watch the soccer The Wi-Fi was quite slow Also there was no generator in our unit so we were affected by loadshedding

A bit far out but worth it to not hear any cars The surroundings were stunning The house had beautiful interior design features and was more than large enough The wood ran out and they came immediately to replenish it Even when the batteries in remote stopped working We arrived late on the first day but they waited for us

Security - we found and a door in our main bedroom that didnt lock right before we went to bed. We felt very unsafe and had to sleep on 1 tiny room with our children and locked ourselves in. The host didnt take us through the cottage when we arrived. The gas stove also didnt work so we couldnt boil the kettle. Little added touches could have made such a difference.

The owner and receptionist were extremely helpful, my battery went flat throughout the night and they didn't hesitate to " jump" to my rescue, excuse the pun. Friendly staff beautiful peaceful environment.
