How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

See above. Everything else was liked!
The cold breakfast (chicken & ham) slices were tasteless. The warm bacon was hard, and the various sausages overcooked - on the whole the breakfast was not impressive and may have been so at the early start of breakfast but certainly not a hour or two later. Things had dried out, not much, if any attention given to keeping the offerings tasty.

We booked a mountain view room - but had a view of the parking lot. When I queried it I was told I could upgrade and pay for that. This was not good. I didn't know that the setup was such - that it was residence and apartments as well as hotel. It didn't give us the 4 star hotel experience. Just a nice room. Breakfast was pretty basic. It's a little far to get from the room to the cafe for breakfast.

Shower head in main bathroom wasn't attached properly so water was leaking everywhere and the lights in the living area were flickering when switched off.
Great location, staff super friendly, neat and very spacious.

We loved everything, the breakfast team, the reception staff and managers. They are the best, friendly and very helpful. this was our second year that we stayed there and this time we stayed for 26 days. It is always lovely to see the same faces again.

The bed was rather uncomfortable and they pushed two beds together, so it was rather hard in the center of the bed. I wish they replenished the water bottle after cleaning the room.
Great location as it is a stone throw away from canal walk mall. The views from the balcony was spectacular and the room was spacious.

Distance from hotel to most activities if you wanna explore Cape Town, you spend a lot on transport. It was going to be nice if it was closer to CBD. Bed is very uncomfortable. Needs some serious change.
Warm welcome, my bags were kept safe for me until check in time as I arrived earlier than expected. When I got back to the hotel after 14h00, all my Luggages were already taken to my room. Daily room service. Friendly staff.

The aircon in the room did not work and it was quite hot. Despite multiple resets of the aircon over two days this did not resolve the issue. I think the aircon needed a service. On the last day of my stay I was moved to a room with a working air-conditioner. Thanks for this.
Breakfast was great. The breakfast space was small and intimate but I enjoyed the food and coffee service. The staff were slow but very friendly.

Very convenient access to the mall / restaurants. Well suited for business travel if you will be working in the area. We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel and didn't spend much time there.

In the room was in, the kitchen cupboards were of low quality.
Proximity to Canal Walk shopping mall was excellent. The view over the water is very nice.

I had a few water leaks - where the air conditioner is and in the bathroom. Not a big issue, but maybe some additional maintenance is needed

I knew exactly what I was booking, so no complaints. Hotel has no extra facilities, you only get the room.

Breakfast was excellent with a variety to choose from. Palesa and Theo were great at breakfast hosts. Location was easily accessible and central to all the attractions. Chad the Manager and Akhona made our stay comfortable and resolved our issues efficiently. Will definitely come back to stay!

The bathroom design made no sense.... The shower door opens into the toilet. There's a perspex glass on one end and you can see into the shower from the bedroom. The other end has a curtain. It should have been a fully enclosed bathroom with walls and doors.
