Be aware that there are some sandy patches on the way up to Kaia, we were fine with our small car though. As we arrived, the lack of wifi caught us by surprise, but a digital detox was actually what we needed.

We spent 3 nights at Kaia and had a very relaxing and joyful time. Carlos and his pack warmly welcomed us at arrival and led us to our lodge surrounded by the beautiful garden. The lodge is simple, spacious, and functional, ideal for those seeking tranquility and an authentic experience off the beaten track. Carlos took incredibly good care of us, treating us to the wonders of his enchanted garden, helpful recommendations, and beautiful conversations.

Carlos is kind, interesting, and a great host. He welcomed us with avos and granadilla from his fantastic garden, full of fruits, interesting plants and birds. He also gave me advice and info about diving in Sodwana, which I am very grateful for. The dogs are very relax and welcoming as well!

The host Carlos was wonderful! So kind and helpful! Helped us before we even got to the property - helped us out after getting stuck in beach sand. Got us safely to his property and just kept on being an altogether wonderful person. God Bless you Carlos! Will come back to your property should we ever find ourselves in this neck of the woods!

Wow the host was amazing! Friendly, helpful and really walked the extra mile! The dogs are so well trained and made us feel welcom! The geyser is working on gas and the host made sure we were comfortable during loadshedding!

We had a simple but spacious house with two bedrooms and a large living room/kitchen area located in a big garden full of plants and old trees. Very quiet but close to restaurants and supermarket. The beach is just a short drive away. Carlos is a very friendly and helpful host who fixed any problems and requests in a minute and helped us book activities. The dogs are very sweet and keep sneaky monkeys from the premises. The kitchen has everything you need and in the bedrooms are big shelves for all your clothes. Beds are comfy and have mosquito nets. There is a generator that insures water pressure in case of load shedding. Water stays warm because of gas heating.

Bed, host, diving

Carlos was more than friendly, he was the perfect host (Going the extra mile is an understatement). He and his dogs invited us into their home. We stayed in a house with a spacious living room, with a well equipped kitchen. The bathroom and shower were also very comfortable. It was the best bed and mattress we had had the entire trip. The garden is great and we suggest exploring it. We absolutely loved our stay. We had awesome dives. If we ever visit Sodwana Bay again, this is where we’ll stay. Thank you Carlos. Have a good one. Carlos was lovely and his secret garden full of charm and loveliness. Please make friends with the dogs - they guard the property but also love a bit of fuss. Every one of them is sweet and friendly. If you don’t want them in your house just say - if you do they will welcome you in the morning and make you smile.

Great location with a phenomenal host. Carlos went out his way to make our stay incredible. Couldn't have asked for a more accommodating host and the welcome fruit was the cherry on top. The house had everything one would need.

Battery for electric gate doesn’t last long during load shedding. Can’t braai when it’s raining.

Very harsh load shedding in the area, but this affected everyone in the area. No standard chairs (i.e. with a back), but this is a small quibble.

Carlos was a very hospitable and accommodating host. He went the extra mile for us, especially at check in. The lodge is roomy and had plenty of room for all 4 of us to spread out. Complimentary fruit was a welcome bonus.

The cleaning of the room has to be improved

Very welcoming staff: Carlos is very enjoying and pleasant, easy going person, so nice talk with him and meet all his dogs. the lodge is pretty close to main services as restaurant, and market. About 5 km to the beautiful beach of sodwana where you can book and do some activities as snorkeling. The structure is composed by a group of lodges clustered in a big tropical garden: Stunning sky when darkness falls

Some of the stuff (like blinds) did not work properly...one mattress was very lumpy (but will be replaced)_

Host is very friendly and relaxed - lives in his own food forest which is part of the garden !!. We stayed in a free standing spacious house located in the middle of a large, very nice and relaxing garden, filled with trees. We really liked to spent time there relaxing after our activities (diving, etc). Host has 4 cute dogs roaming in the garden - we did not mind, in fact our kids adore them but if you are afraid of dogs this is something to consider. Appartment has all amenities but is not luxurious - we did not mind but again is something to consider....but then again for that price you get what you pay for..

Loved the rustic but quaint accommodation kitted with everything you need, even a bread maker! Our absolute gem of a host brought us salad greens every evening fresh from the onsite nursery. From the braai facilities to the outdoor shower, we were more than pleasantly surprised by the attention to detail and creature comforts provided. The photos don't do the place justice. Thank you to Carlos & his sweet pups for such a rad stay. We'll be back.
