I think the check out time of 10am is a little bit early.

The owner Rene was lovely and welcoming. He invited us to sit down and have a coffee with him. Lovely man.

No hand soap or shower gel provided in the bathroom. I booked and paid for a larger room but was asked to shift to a smaller room to accommodate other guests. I agreed and was offered a meal voucher or discount but this was not provided or mentioned by the staff when I checked in and checked out.

The breakfast was excellent. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding clean and adequate.

Fireplace did not work. Our room was smoked out and all our clothes smelt terrible for the rest of the trip. Pillows on the beds were awful. The place is in a very good location. New owners are full of ideas to upgrade everything. It's just a pity that we stayed there through the transition from old owners to new ones as renovations started immediately which disrupted our stay. We were given breakfast vouchers to Wildeflower Cafe. The owner never greeted us or acknowledged us at all. No coffee or menus presented in 15min of sitting down. We ate breakfast at Rosemead bakery which was absolutely divine.

The previous owners were very knowledgeable and so helpful and friendly.

Sadly couldn't have coffee in the morning there was no milk or creamer in the room. No plug for the hairdryer but Renee came to the rescue. I feel breakfast should be from 8am so people can get going earlier.

The restaurant was lovely. Great hosts, good food. Nice size bedroom room. Lovely electric blanket.

I understand that the proprietors cannot always be on site when guests arrive, but they need to communicate in advance about arrangements. This can avoid any mix-ups. Also, as a single traveller I was looking forward to a warm welcome (a smile always helps) and dinner at their much-praised restaurant. Neither was available. They need to make clear the restaurant opening hours - closed on Sunday unless a big booking. Breakfast toast and jam poor quality. No info in room about the area - how to get to beach, local attactions. Just a few emergency numbers. Altogether the bare minimum.

Pleasant room, good shower, great breakfast as far as it went. Safe, quiet.

Even though we thought we could eat at the attached restaurant, there was no space for us both at dinner and breakfast. Maybe they had a shortage in staff, but probably best to arrange in advance if you aren't flexible about finding another place for food.

This apartment is great value for money if you're travelling with a group and are on a budget. I personally had expected it to be nicer, but that's my own fault, I didn't read the descriptions closely enough. The rooms, the kitchen, and esp. the bathrooms, are pretty basic - which is just fine when that's what you expect. Everything was as it should be, everything was clean, and we could just go right in when we arrived.

The bathrooms/toilets could use a little TLC... the one toilet roll holder was broken and kept dropping the toilet paper roll. The showerheads are perfunctory and there were no shower curtains.

The breakfast was delicious pancakes cooked by Renee... totally recommended! The hosts Renee and Mary Ann are very friendly and helpful.

Our stay was very traumatic, we were insulted by host asking us not to leave the place like a pigsty
    • Leisure trip

The rude attitude of Rene, the host. On arrival he showed us our rooms and asked us whether we know what the word “varkenstal” means. We replied: “Yes, it means pigsty”. Rene's reply was: “Now don’t leave the apartment like a pigsty”. Our group was Non-White and I wonder whether all guests are insulted like this. We demand an apology. The website clearly displays that “Barbecue” facilities are available. Rene told us that he shall arrange a portable barbecue to braai on the beach. By the evening, this never materialized. When I said we already bought the meat, he told us that we can put our meat in the fridge and have supper at his restaurant. This is unacceptable. The next morning our nightmare continued. The restaurant has a sign reflecting an opening time of 9:00. We were not aware that breakfast ended strictly at 9:15 and we were reprimanded for being 5 minutes late. Breakfast was refused, but after his extremely long lecture, the two of us were dished only one egg each as punishment. For goodness sake, R85 each for one egg with garnish, bread and juice!!!! Rene is the worst host we’ve encountered in all our travels. It’s a pity there isn't a negative star rating.

Didn't realise that there was no coffee, tea and sugar in the self-catering unit. Normally coffee and tea provided for in rooms even self-catering. But not a train smash as shop just around the corner.

Rene and Mary-Ann are fantastic hosts. Loved their interaction together and with guests. They have a great sense of humour and loved the banter. Meals were delish.
