This beautiful guesthouse is a bit pricy when compared to others we stayed in in the Northern Cape of South Africa during our safari trip.

We chose Kalahari Camelthorn Guesthouse to overnight after leaving the Kgalagardi Transfronteer Park at 17:30, and we were not disappointed. A lot of love went into this guesthouse. We regarded our car as parking safe overnight.

Found milk and rusks which were way beyond their best before dates.

Well kept and very modern furnishes. BBQ and outside kitchenette were very convenient. Generator kept everything up when load shedding kicked.

No complaints, just the fact, that you have to pay extra for the WiFI, which was not very strong.

The accommodation is in the center of Askham and it has the charm of a good old house with a huge and nice patio area. Some parts would need a bit of a renovation, but the place is neat and clean and well equipped. You will find everything you need for self catering, but we decided to order breakfast, which was a wonderful surprise. The owner served a great breakfast with a big variety of products (for 150 Rand p. person). It was so much that we still had enough for lunch on our way to the next destination.

Wonderful stay in tastefully decorated rooms. Good beds and shower and lots of little extras like fruit and rusks etc. Good distance for overnight stop before entering Kgalgadi National Park.

Everything was perfect.

Another great stay at the Camelthorn. Beautiful accomodation with lots of personal touches and a warm welcome. A fantastic stop on the way to the Kgalagadi that I would recommend to anybody.

Perfect accommodation in a small town relatively close to Kgalagadi National Park. Rene was super knowledgeable an friendly, and even helped us at the last minute when we needed another night at her guesthouse. Highly recommended!

Very comfortable, clean and cosy room with admirable and incredibly lovely interior with attention to details. Amazing, helpful and welcoming owner Rene did everything to make us feeling like home. Welcoming fruits, homemade bread, milk, water, cookies, kitchen with everything you may need. Spacious and perfectly clean bathroom. Wonderful breakfast. We loved a lot our stay here and will be back for sure. Highly recommended!

It was comfortable, private and well located. The host was very friendly and knowlegeable about the area. This helped us plan how to get the most out of the area.

Only 250 MB of internet per day available per room, that is far, far, far from nearly enough for people used on unlimited (or almost unlimited data transfers). I really understand the bad situation in the country, however, it would be nice that owners write it on Booking.com, so customers would be warned before making the reservation at the property. The cleaning lady was persistently puting one visibly very dirty towel (that I trowed on the flor very first day of my stay) to the pile with clean towels, each day over and over again for the whole time of my stay. I really believe that owners were not aware of this, and that cause is the pure lasiness of the stuff that I was encountered with all over the country.

Very kind and helpful owners. They really try to give their best to make guests feel at home. Very clean and nice room. I had an accident with the rented car that broke down in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park 16 hours before my flight at Upington airport. The rental company (EuropCar) did not care to replace it with the new one in order to be able to arrive on time at the airport and to not miss my flight, so the owners offered me a lift to the airport, even we had to start at 5:00AM and ride was two and a half hours.

Rene is an amazing host. She has put lots of personal details and touches in the guesthouse. She was very attentive and helped us with some information and guidelines for Kgalagadi. The place is perfectly for a nice getaway
