We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):

South AfricaThe room was quite dusty and there were ants in our room. The small container with the coffees and teas was very dirty. The toilet did not flush properly. TV had no remote. Power kept tripping.Yes you pay a very low premium for it, but can be clean at least

Room had a fridge which is very important for travellers like me. Bar and restaurant added to the convenience of staying there. Nice dresser table available in the family rooms.

South AfricaNo Wi-Fi in the rooms. The Aircon didn't cool down the room so maintenance had to come fix it. Although I ran a tab at the bar on my room number, they knocked on my door later that night to settle the bill. Most of the time it was a struggle to find someone at reception - you had to call a cell number to get hold of them. If you're from PTA or JHB on your way to the Garden Route, drive another hour to Graaff-Reinet, it'll be worth your while.
Quaint little hotel. The bar had ice cold beer...on special. The beds were very comfortable. Nice pool area to chill, take a quick dip and have a cold one.

South AfricaThe electricity failed around 6.30 pm and, even though it was not the fault of the hotel or staff, there was no offer of compensation or rebate from the staff. I sleep with a CPAP machine and there was no electrical socket close to the bed and I had to put a makeshift mattress together from couch and chair cushions. A most uncomfortable night. Power was only restored at around 7.00 am the next morning. I was able to run a bath the next morning but certain taps ran dry and the water in the toilet cistern did not refill!!
The food was most enjoyable but not overpriced. No lift in the building meant we had to carry our luggage upstairs.

South AfricaI booked a family room with a seating area,the room we were given had a single chair against the wall no seating area and not size advertised either, definitely not as per picture when booked, with regards to bathroom only a half used roll of toilet paper provided and a bar of soap the towels were old and frayed with stains on, the pool area my children did not want to use the pool the tables had used glasses on them empty plastic bottles on the floor, next morning whilst going to reception to check out had first look around inn, very off putting empty glasses left on tables in lounge seating area, this was the reason we checked out before 7 that morning

South AfricaIt's a poor town and the street is full of homeless kids begging, fighting, shouting. It's just sad to see all the time. Not the hotels fault but obviously it's all my kids could think about. These small girls and boys (5 years old and up) outside crying and cold and hungry. The hotel was fantastic a few decades ago. But now the decor, furniture etc are still the originals. Probably even the linen. It doesn't have any old world charm. It just looks old and tired. It was fine for a single night stop over on our way to Cape town but I wouldn't stop there again.
There were two rooms. One was a lounge and the other was the bedroom with two double beds. The is a restaurant downstairs. We had a beer and pizza.

South AfricaAt 7 pm the electricity went out (not their fault however- whole town went dark due to a major storm), no water in our room, no-one at reception to assist. Also no flash lights or candles or hot water for coffee. After posting the original review, the owner contacted me and we agreed on a partial refund. I am happy with his integrity and willingness to resolve the issue, a rare trade these days.
Beautiful old building, with nice atmosphere on arrival. Hotel has a wrap around stoep on the second floor which give a good vantage point to view the town and surrounds.
