Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyWe had to ask for the hot water to be turned on in our room after we had arrived. The water was also quite brown due to the rain. I would say the food would be an area of focus.
This property is remote, and it is set in a mountainous region in South Africa. The hotel is situated in a forest glen with many lush trees. We liked the various activity options such as tennis, bowls and the pool. The golf course is well maintained and the draw for coming totals the hotel.

South AfricaThe gravel road there is still not very good, but we've heard that they are upgrading it within the next weeks!
The surrounding mountains as well as the hotel gardens are beautiful. Some parts of the hotel and gardens are still a bit run down and unkept because of Covid restrictions, but the new management are swiftly turning it around to its former glory! Dinner and breakfast were tasty and enjoyable, though with little choice. The room was very clean, nice and cool when we arrived (it was a hot day). The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomThe final10km, approximately, of the access to the hotel is gravel road---pretty rough. We did not find the hotel immediately. Otherwise, nothing that we did not like.
The hotel is in a beautiful setting, adjacent to a lovely (looking) golf course---I don't play golf but it appears to be popular--and a challenge. For non-golfers there is a energetic walk around the perimeter of the course

South AfricaThere is still a lot of repairs and maintenance to do but the parts of the hotel that they are using are fully functional. I hope that they can restore it to the holiday destination it once was.
The hotel is old but management is doing their best to get the hotel back on its feet. The rooms are comfortable and the bedding exceptional. The food was great and they catered for the kids aswell. The setting is just breathtakingly beautiful. Gardens are beautiful

South AfricaIt is nice and cosy with all the rain, but with the load-shedding schedules there is not much to do. It is a pity that we couldn’t play tennis, bowls or swim. The one room didn’t had any pillowcases and the lamps/torches didn’t work.
Beautiful surroundings en friendly staff!

South AfricaThe road isn't ideal for a flat car, so try to come with a car that is a little elevated.
This hotel epitomizes the country hotel where you go to relax, get away from real life and recharge your batteries. It includes two hearty meals per day, enough entertainment for the kids, a fire place in the bar, and affordable drinks. The bedrooms are redone with lovely linen, there are plenty of board games in the bar, and the management can't do enough to keep their guests happy. The staff are very helpful and friendly with Anelisa in the bar and Pieter and his colleague at the carvery doing an excellent job with a sense of humor. Deon is the kind patriarch looking after everyone( even remembering that my son loved chilli sauce and putting it for us at our table)I had damaged my car on the road and it was fixed promptly by Petros who seems to know how to fix anything! It is the little things that made the visit special. The accommodation that includes two meals per day comes at a very good price. Highly recommended.

South AfricaThe bathrooms look old and tired and the bathroom light is exceptionally brighter. We noticed that there are some renovations happening in this regard. Some sporting facilities need some TLC.
The gardens are beautiful and lush. Staff are friendly and efficient. The pool set-up was great - a bar and restaurant on site while lounging at the pool. Went half-board - food was simple but tasty and portions are generous. Our bedroom had a new, clean matress, bedding and curtains. Felt fresh. Hiking trail was an adventure.

South AfricaThe road leading up to the estate needs serious attention. We (wife and myself) were both Club Captains of our club and we heard so much about your course, your course is in my opinion a purist course and we loved it! What was unfortunately a shocker was the service we received from your "Manager" (Piet). In the 45+ years I been playing golf I was never treated that way... we had to stand in the car park (in terrible heat) for more than 20 minutes to wait for a cart, there were no clubhouse service to buy anything halfway - the lady at the pro shop kinda laughed and said we are buying the LAST ice cream??? Then the golf cart we were given was filthy, looked like a greenkeepers cart. I don't want to sound too bad but golfers talk....
The Hotel is obviously quite old and need renovations but it was still a nice stay. Bernadine and the barman (apologies for not having his name) was outstanding and the food was as good! well done, we'll come again when we can

South AfricaYou can drain the area in front of the Rooms with numbers starting with 5. It was very soggy during the rainy time over Christmas. There are also remnants of shrubs that were cut down which ought to be completely uprooted, at the moment a parking hazard
I only had breakfasts and these were excellent. Good buffet breakfasts, friendly staff, fresh food.
