Amazing space and very safe. It was drizzling most of the time but amazing fireplace and great atmosphere. We will definitely try to visit again

The bed upstairs is not quite as comfortable as the bed downstairs and the roof leaks a bit.

The location is lovely in a very safe closed off estate. The house is very pretty with lovely views. There are two bedrooms with two bathrooms and a comfortable sitting room. Braaing outside is not allowed due to the thatch roof but the big fireplace inside was more than adequate to braai some steak. The bed downstairs is very comfortable and there are lots of interesting books to read. Dogs are very welcome and there are other dogs on the property.

Everything was just nice.

Did not order breakfast. The location was excellent and the view spectacular. The view over the mountains were so beautiful and the old farmhouse look and feel made it very special. It was great to spend time with the family at this venue.

We know it’s an old stone house but it was just a bit too drafty and cold at times.

The host was friendly and helpful. The views were amazing. The farm is great for walks. The wood is well priced (and we received extra). We had milk, eggs and ginger beer in our kitchen and the kitchen is well equipment with spices and whatnot available too. The house is decorated with absolutely lovely touches. Then it snowed and we were delighted!

Midway between Johannesburg and Durban, Kliphuis is the perfect spot for a weekend away from the city or stopover on the way to KZN. Kliphuis is a small stone cottage beautifully set in highlands country estate in Van Reenen established over 100 years ago with view of the hills, mountains and streets lined with oak trees. It isn’t always easy to appreciate the beauty of the night sky from the city. Light and air pollution makes seeing the night sky challenging from most people’s backyards, here the air is clear making the milky way highly visible in the sky. The clearest sky I have ever seen even though it was numbingly cold. The view of the stars and mountains is an added bonus to a beautiful, cozy home, with everything you need for a little break, very clean and tastefully decorated, and is situated in a beautiful, peaceful and quiet estate. Sitting around the roaring fire on a comfy rocking chair is amazingly magical. A cute, quaint, magical stone cabin, with a back deck with one of those most breath taking views. Elsa is an excellent host and timeous at communication, and always available to help. We loved the warmth and comfort of a wood burning fireplace and the personal touches like the hand-written note and fresh eggs, giving our stay a laid back small town feel. Extremely pet friendly, however not fenced off.

The stairs are not really child friendly, if you slip or something, it could potentially be dangerous as my 18month old could easily fit between the gaps in the stairs. The electricity was off from the afternoon until about 8pm, we didn’t have any candles, but Elsa was very helpful to immediately assist us with bringing us candles when we asked.

This is such a nice cozy, rustic place to stay! The views are amazing. Staff were very friendly and welcoming! Everything was clean and neat. There was a welcome note and some fresh farm herbs and eggs as a welcome treat. It just makes the stay more personal and I appreciate that! We made use of the fireplace, it gets really cold at night, and that gave off a great cozy feeling.
