How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Toilet flashing system needs an upgrade
Great affordable stop over unit. We stayed in Hope unit. Small and cozy with no views. Has everything you may need for a short stay. Within walking distance to shops and restaurants. Lovely service. Highly recommended it.

The units are connected to each other through a thin wall so one can hear your neighbours in their units if they are louder than usual.
Location was central and in a safe and secure neighbourhood- safe enough to walk around during the day and evening. The views from our patio and room were incredible. The rooms were comfortable, cosy, clean and everything we needed was in the unit. Our host was friendly and available.

The wifi connection was not so good, as had to keep in touch with family while away.

We booked the weekend in room HOPE for our 17th wedding anniversary, and our experience was very nice, the place was very neat, quiet, and cozy. The room had everything that we needed for a short weekend away and will be sure to book again. The staff were very helpful and explained everything very nicely when we arrived. Thank you very much. Lovely units which had everything we needed, we loved that the two units, Peace & Joy have a shared patio area, and share a braai. Short walk into town to all Restaurant's and shops. Lovely scenic walks around Clarens.

This was a return visit, and like before, the facilities are clean and comfortable. The self-catering unit had everything we required. Easy walking distance to all the activities around the square. We had a very relaxing stay and will definitely return again

Nothing. Television was not working when we arrived, but it was taken care of the following day. Wifi is very slow I suppose the loadshedding had an effect.
It was beutiful. It catered for my needs. Like thatb its a walking distance to the CBD no need to drive. Everything is within reach.

Unfortunately our neighbors did not adhere to maintaining noise levels low.
We really liked the accommodation which included the decor, scenery and the welcome gift received from the host. The coffee facility and fresh milk in the fridge was super thoughtful as well.

It would have been nice to have a bath mat for when you get out the shower. We were able to use a towel which was fine but I was concerned as I did not want to do anything to ruin the towels.
It was clean and tidy. It was also really peaceful. The staff were friendly and even sent out a daily loadshedding schedule, which I really appreciated.

The walls between the overnight rooms are very thin, so we were thankful for quiet neighbors. The WiFi signal was bad and we could only get one device connected in the end. Overall very good for price.
The overnight room was very comfortable for two people, with nice chairs and a lovely bed. Coffee/tea was provided, with fresh milk and rusks being a lovely touch. Private en suite bathroom was tidy and clean, although very small. All the information was clearly sent through before our arrival.

Better toilet paper, would have been nice. Floors where a little dirty on one day.
Beautifully decorated, and comfortable too. Location was very accessible to the town. Enjoyed walking to the shops and restaurants.

No fault of the accomodation but the Loadshedding for 4 hours at a time early evening and morning, and no water during Loadshedding resulted in my early departure.
I loved the proximity to town, bed was clean and comfortable and the kitchenette useful except for no bottle opener.
