Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe shower is a little small, although adequate.
The peace and tranquillity; the property was fully equipped and spotlessly clean. Beautiful setting. We'll stay longer next time and hope to be able to take walks on the property. Louis and Glenda went out of their way to spoil us for our wedding anniversary. It was a delightful surprise and we're so grateful to them. We highly recommend Kum Kula for a peaceful, 'feel at home' stay in the heart of Kruger bushveld.

United KingdomNothing major, but access to the property is with a lock at the gate. Also the dirt track road could be difficult to drive up in wet conditions, just prepare yourself with a SUV.
Breakfast was lovely and we sat on the front of our room to eat this. Views from the look out tour were a real highlight as you can see amazing sunsets and animals playing.

South AfricaThe room was quite hot, something to stop the bugs in front of the window can help so you are able to open windows, load shedding also did not help as the fan did not work then
Breakfast was great, delivered right to our doorstep each morning at the time we requested. Louis is on the property the whole time and can help with anything needed. There is a great sundowner deck where you can see the sunset and even the animals coming to drink water. The Zebra and giraffe walk right past your room to the water hole. We even heard the leopard one night

United KingdomNothing, it was delightful
A very beautiful tranquil lodge set in the African bush. We had giraffe walking through the property. The hosts were extremely helpful and the lodge was nicely laid out with a natural swimming pool, a raised lookout over the bush from which we saw lovely birdlife and zebra.

South AfricaWe were worried there was no TV, but to be honest, we didn't miss that because we were always busy viewing and he made us fire by the boma, so there was nothing to complain about.
Our host took us around, river walk was the best and we saw lots of animals in the game reserve itself . We were served freshly baked muffins every morning, truly speaking they go all out for their guests, I'm booked for next year again.

South AfricaThe shower was a little on the small side.....but a small price yo pay for an amazing experience overall.
Dave was such a wonderful host. Extremely knowledgeable and informative about the area and the animals. Being able to sit on your front deck and have Giraffe, Wildebees, Nyala, zebra walk through the garden in front of you is incredibly special. Personal walk through the area and have a one on one. Also the incredible muffins provided as an added item to your breakfast. Thank you Dave for a very special weekend.

Germanyabsolutely nothing
This was just awesome! We hat an amazing stay at Dave‘s & his families’ home. Highlights: - Dave‘s freshly baked Banana bread - Having dinner next to a giraffe & her baby. They were walking around the garden area for the whole time of our stay. - Having „Braai“ (BBQ) at a fire place along with some nice chat with other guests. There are only 4 accommodations; so it is very quite. - watching the antilopes after sunrise inside the garden - Dave gave a little bush tour where we learned a lot about the nature and animals in his reserve - Lia, the funny & lovely family dog Other than that, the lodged are very authentic, very comfy, with electricity and warm water. The gate to Kruger park is a 30 min drive. Anyway, you can see all kinds of animals already in this area (elefants, zebras, giraffes, antilopes - and if you are lucky lions & gepards) JUST BOOK IT!

GermanyThis place is awesome. Nicely located with animals around. You can spot giraffes throughout the day & bush babies at night. The pool and the viewing deck is great & Dave is the most amazing host someone could ask for. Thanks for the amazing stay, the pancakes, banane bread & the exciting bush walk.
There is literally nothing to complain about! If something den probably just that a brighter light for the night and to pack in the morning would be useful :)
