Everything about this place was magical. Stayed two nights and felt right at home. The lodge is stunning, and the private gardens are beautiful. Truly a little haven in charming Franschhoek. The staff were also lovely, making sure we were looked after. Shout out to the manager, Clifford, who made sure our stay was comfortable and memorable.

La Clé Lodge is super well located and you very much feel home away from home. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We are planning to go back for sure and can highly recommend it!

Nothing I didn't like about the property or staff, it is excellent!

In my travels to date, I have never had such an incredible experience with a hotel. Clifford and the whole team at La Clé are on the next level when it comes to help and attention to detail. Clifford was also incredibly helpful assisting with arranging to see a doctor when one of us was sick. The hotel is the definition of boutique with only 5 or 6 rooms in the property so you get a really decidcated, personalised experience. The internal decor is stunning and the surrounding grounds are beautiful and perfectly maintained, with an outdoor pool and veranda for guests to use as well. The location is excellent for proximity to town which is walkable in under 10 minutes and it's the same for the wine tram / bus terminal at Franchoek. There is an epic continental breakfast spread every day with hot options available on request. The staff are friendly and chatty, and the hotel is on hand for any concierge service you might need, from vineyard recommendations, to bookings, cancellations and anything else a guest might need. I'd say for those staying in Franchoek this place is a must.

Perfect location and setting, wonderful staff who were so friendly, helpful and welcoming, & very comfortable bedroom. The braai arranged for just the two of us was truly abundant in its generosity and so typical of the warmth of our wonderful South African people.

Beautiful lodge nestled in its own vineyard with wonderful facilities and breathtaking decor. We enjoyed relaxing by the log fire in the sitting room in the evenings after a long day wine tasting on the tram! Only 5 mins walk to the wine tram terminal and to the centre of town. We also enjoyed playing tennis with a wonderful mountain backdrop! Staff were lovely and breakfast was a huge spread every morning that set us up well for the day.

Everything about La Clé is exceptional. My husband and I visited on our honeymoon and we had such a special time. The property is so beautiful, we loved exploring the garden in the back. The breakfast every morning was out of this world, so delicious! And the staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable are special with help booking and organizing wine tours, transfers and offering suggestions for anything we might need. Would highly recommend staying here. We cannot wait to come back one day!

Rather pricey esp for south african standard!

Truly incredible property. everything is SO beautiful. Impeccable style, decoration, location etc. Very comfortable bedding (the best in our whole trip in SA). Excellent service. The ground is so well kept. We played tennis just right next to the vineyard (although they don’t have proper tennis balls, might wanna bring your own). Super romantic all around. Definitely want to return!

The lodge is well designed and furnished. It gives you a sense of coming home immediately as you entered. It is cozy and homey. Its location is also superb with the town just a street away and the wine tram stop down the street. The pool is warm and plus, they also have a tennis court in property.
