How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

The host was initially very rude and unfriendly to me when I contacted her for the keys. After engaging a bit more, she came aorund and we were in good terms afterwards. Even though I came after 14h00, the room was not clean and was smelly and stuffy. We were able to accomodate the situation, by going to do some shopping while the lady started cleaning.
The location was perfect. The Security guards are very pleasant and helpful. They go their way to ensure that as a guest you are well treated and taken care of. The staff in general was very friendly.

Doors didn't lock properly. Dust and cobwebs on the ceiling. There was no information on Booking.com regarding the breakage deposit that had to be paid 24 hours prior to arrival No torches or emergency light provided for loadshedding.

There was still a lot of dust in the unit from the renovations to the bathrooms, but this can be sorted with a good cleaning of the unit. The unit does not have any towels, bring your own (bath and beach towels).
Both the bathrooms are newly renovated and well laid out. Bedding was clean and fresh. On site security personnel is friendly and patrols done regularly.

The gas braai did not work well, despite there being sufficient gas. Think it needs a service as I had to eventually cook the chicken pieces in the over, The gas braai did not get hot enough. Might be a good idea to alert people before they check in that KITCHEN DRYING TOWELS are not provided, to avoid runing around at night to try and buy some.
The location of this unti is very close to the beach and good sea views. Has adequet facilities and and meets all advertised offerrings. Small suggestion is to open the unit to air before guests arrive to get rid of the musty smell and make sure towels and sufficient toilet paper is in the unit.

The Host. Booking. com sent us a confirmation and pin to get in So I didn’t worry any further. I was traveling for a family funeral I didn’t need any problems just a place to sleep On arrival at 17h30 the security advised the office was closed. I gave the pin as requested I phoned the number on the email who was Hettie Du Plooy and got screamed at because I asked how I gain access. I was advised I didn’t confirm my booking! Booking.com confirmed my booking, that was the last correspondence I received. I was screamed at as I had not paidthe breakage deposit. I never received any details of how to pay. The guard assisted us with requested pin. he then escorted us to the unit where a lady had opened and gave us the keys. The key box was broken which I pointed out! advised/screamed by Hettie that I was sent 3 emails of which I did not receive or I would have complied. The following day I was accused of breaking into the unit. Further had to pay the breakage deposit. Which I duly did as an instant payment and sent proof of payment. I requested on 9/2/24 where to leave the keys on departure. And I was told where I found them. I relayed the story but had no reply On Sunday 10/2/24 9 30 am I sent a message advising I left the keys at security. I got a very rude message back, screaming at me again I can’t leave at security. I immediately reminded that I had asked the previous day with no response and asked what I must do I didn’t receive a response. Hettie kept saying she didn’t know we were arriving. But when I questioned who she sent the 3 emails to, she said through Booking.com So she must of known of the booking and payment was made! So I have no idea what happened here but however, I adhered to my commitments. I request that you look into this. Above all else, I am disgusted in the way I was spoken to and treated. I will never entertain this place again because of the host and never recommend. I await my depi

The beds linen & pillows had a bad ordure & smelled , even the lounge couch had smell. There are no carpets or mats on the floor even in bathrooms no towel or even a kitchen cloth ( even through the site says towel provided). Beds not comfortable , never used the dishes & kitchen as its not even in good condition no washing liquid. Only one positive is the shower was good.

We ended up on the road because we couldn't find the key yet we paid everything in full the lady we tried t fone she was so rude and swearing us bcz we want our money back bcz we never used yr apartments it got so bad we went Police Station for them t come and assist us so they told us t open a case against the property owner vcz we want our money back bcz we slept on the road

The shower is extremely small. People who are heavier in weight and claustrophobic will have a hard time taking a shower.
The place itself is safe and good. Security checks done. Lovely lawns and views.

Beach was closed. The unit wasn't very clean we found popcorn on the couches, curtains are very dirty, magets under the dustbin.

Service was poor. No communication from the manager. No key codes given for check in. Apartment was extremely stuffy, smell lasted the entire weekend. Not for those whom are asthmatic or suffer with sinusitis. Bathrooms were dirty. No keys given for the gate access to the beach even after contacting the manger. Previously booked and on the day of check in, I was told that apartment was booked by someone else.
