Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaOur first night had a bunch of bugs in the room BUT it seemed to be a freak bug night as all the other nights were absolutely fine. Literally the only thing negative I could possibly say. The experience was beyond our expectations and we were so sad to leave.
The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. It felt like the staff were inviting you into their home. It was a very relaxed atmosphere that made you feel so comfortable the moment you got there. The rooms were stunning and had everything you could have wanted. Comfy beds, plunge pool you can request to be heated, bath, shower, outdoor shower. The game drives were amazing too. We were very lucky with what we saw. We saw a lion kill and cheetah with 3 babies, water buffalo, elephants, rhinos, zebras! This place is truly special and we were so lucky to find it. Our your guide was so lovely also - Philip.

Laluka Safari Lodge is a beautiful recently renovated luxury game lodge in the heart of the Welgevondon Game Reserve. We were greeted near the main reserve gate by one of the owners who picked us up and drove us through the stunning reserve to the lodge. They spoke to us about the reserve and their passion project. The lodge is family owned and run and you can feel warmth from the family and all members of staff the moment you get there. The Lodge itself is perfect; for me it ticked every single box in its decoration, styling, layout, and everything. It is beautiful. The views over the valley are expansive, stunning and provide the perfect feeling of being at one with nature. We were fortunate to have an excellent ranger (Ricardo) and another ranger we had previously (Tish) who joined for a few drives, and both made our trip extraordinary. We saw the great beauty of the reserve plus incredible wildlife sightings alongside lots of information on wildlife, plants, and trees. During our stay we were treated to a Boma, we were served beautifully prepared food and ate under the visible Milky Way! We were then treated to a talk about stars and the stories around them which added to the magic. All meals were delicious, and you always had a choice of what to eat. One of our party is gluten free and vegetarian and they exceeded all possible expectations in food choice and quality. All food is locally sourced by the farm they run outside of the reserve which is what adds to the quality. All chefs, staff, waiters were brilliant throughout. You could not ask for a nicer room, more attention to detail, quality food, to feel like family, and to have incredible rangers. Do not miss this place off your list!

United KingdomCons: some of the food was amazing and we loved the fact it was organic from their own farm. Sadly some of the meals were disappointing, in particular we had a steak one night that I couldn’t even cut because it was so tough. My husband also tried and it was so chewy we couldn’t eat it. The staff did give us something else as we had to send these meals back.
Pro’s: Friendly, personal touches, all the staff and owners were lovely! Decor was wonderful….stealing some ideas for our own home! We have been to this reserve several times and laluka is certainly one of our favourite places to stay

United Arab EmiratesSo much food! Not really a bad thing, but it was just a little bit too much, esp the lunch and brekkie timings being so close due to the game drives.
One of the most memorable experiences of our lives. Didier and his family (including extended Laluka family) made us feel so welcome and went above and beyond to make us feel special, down to the smallest attention to detail such as writing us a handwritten welcome letter, all the staff knew us by name the second we arrived, and remembering how we like our drinks made. The rangers are awesome down-to-earth guys who teach you so much about the animals, land and eco-system (best science trip I’ve ever had), and they all have a wicked sense of humour which we loved. If you’re a foodie, you will not be disappointed either. You are fed round the clock with the most incredible homemade dishes, served the best wine and sit with the best views of the reserve. The staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you, on our last night they even set up a private dinner for the two of us which I’ve only experienced if you’re willing to pay extra, not here! We would absolutely go back to Laluka and would highly recommend to anyone looking to go. Thank you, Laluka Family x

Laluka was INCREDIBLE. Don't hesitate to book here if you are looking for a wonderful, high-end, curated experience. The accommodations were beautiful - attention to detail was above and beyond, food was delicious, game drives (and vehicle) were informative, adventurous, and throughout it all we felt safe and looked after. The staff- Catherine, Notendo, Koenraad, David, Geoffroy - ALL were incredible, kind, and made us feel at home. We left feeling part of the Laluka family - recommend highly!

Laluka is just a brilliant, luxurious and romantic getaway that's only a couple of hours from Joburg. The rooms are beautiful appointed, with all the modern novelties that help to exceed your expectations. The heated private pool is absolutely brilliant and the outdoor shower was a true treat. All the staff at Laluka go above and beyond to make your stay unique and and as comfortable as possible. From David aka "pencils" game changing amarula hot chocolates and cocktails, to the organization of Martha and David's to give us a personalized boma dinner for 2 - the mouth watering food from Chef Tinswalo - was an absolute treat as well. Brian our game ranger was extremely knowledgeable and made us feel at ease from the moment we arrived. We were lucky enough to see a cheetah the day we arrived, and all the game drives were methodically planned and individualized to suit our schedule. Didier and Julia were often checking in with us to make sure that everything was good with our trip which was really great. Overall, Laluka is just a magical place to spend a couple of days unwinding from the city and being able to immerse yourself into the luxury and comfort of the lodge coupled with the beauty of the nature that surrounds it.

Our stay at Laluka was simply exceptional. The lodge is brand new, 100% sustainable, stylish and right in the middle of the bush, with a perfect view over beautiful Welgevonden. With only 6 rooms, Laluka offers the most personal and intimate experience. The attention to details is unique and the staff managed to make us feel special and at ease at the same time. Food is fantastic and 100% local and organic as everything you eat there is supplied by Laluka's farm! I am gluten intolerant and was offered delicious gluten free options at every meal as well as during the game drives and sundowner. The game drives were super exciting and our ranger Brian was extremely knowledgeable, professional and fun at the same time. In a nutshell, everyone, from the owners/management to the rangers and the staff went the extra mile to offer us an unforgettable safari experience. We can't wait to go back and definitely recommend Laluka to everyone!

United StatesThis was without a doubt one of the finest places we have stayed anywhere in the world. Nowhere has compared to the attention to detail and personal touch offered at Laluka. They truly care about each and every guest. The fresh food from the farm was sensational, drives and guide (Christian!) could not have been better, and staff were so caring. This absolutely made our honeymoon amazing. This is a must stay if you are in/around/anywhere near South Africa.
