How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Buffet Breakfast - Staff will fry/scrabble some eggs for you if needed. Very friendly staff. Lamberts Bay is a tiny place. Everything is 5 mins away. Secure parking, security staff will open up if you return late.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at this hotel. When we arrived the receptionist upgraded us to a suite at no extra cost. The hotel is within walking distance of the harbour and the bird sanctuary. For breakfast because we are both vegetarian we were very pleased with the food on offer

For a 3 star hotel our family room could have been provided with a small fridge. The paint in the bath itself peeled off when we ran our bath. Maintenance of the rooms can be stepped up.

Even though our room was cleaned properly, I think that overall the hotel could do with a bit of a deep clean, especially the carpets and floors.
The staff made our stay, they were so friendly and helpful and accommodating. The breakfast was lovely. The hotel is walking distance from the harbour and beautiful bird island. Isabella's restaurant is walking distance and a lovely place to have other meals.

The shower room was rather down at heel and really required some maintenance. Some of the bedroom fittings had seen better days.
The hotel was conveniently located close to the sea and some of the restaurants of Lambert's Bay. The room was basic but of a good size and comfortable. The television had a good range of channels. There was no air conditioning but it was not really needed as there was a cooling breeze off the sea. The hotel was quiet and I slept well. Breakfast had a sufficient range of dishes for my needs. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.The hotel was great value for money.

I know it's a old hotel but the outside areas look a little on the run down side.

It's a pity that they no longer have an a la carte restaurant in the hotel.

There was nothing not to like. It would have been nice if they had a restaurant to serve supper but Covid shut it down.

Allotted parking bays? Perhaps a porter - I have a medical condition and carrying my suitcase up the stairs was a bit of an issue for me - coming down I simply had to call on an employee to assist me (The gentleman who assisted me was most helpful). Just a warning to potential visitors - there are seagulls who dwell on the roof of the factory across the road and these birds DO NOT rest at night...Nothing the hotel management can do about them but be prepared as it does take some time to get used to the squawking..
Breakfast was good with a generous spread. Pub area was a smoking zone which was an added bonus.. Non-smoking rooms as is the norm these days but there was a place on the balcony which was perfect for me! Within walking distance to shops and restaurants.. The staff were wonderful - so friendly and welcoming - Jenna and Bonnie get a mention here for sure! Ideal accommodation for a solo traveller.. Lambert's Bay is a safe town and very little crime in the area - the town's folk are mainly Afrikaans speaking but they all speak and understand English very well. Will definitely be going back for a visit soon.

It was difficult to pay for the accommodation, some confusion around what had been paid for and what not. I had to be refunded.
Old fashioned, interesting, fun. Good breakfast, very nice room with a little balcony. We liked the unusual decor and interesting historical information about the hotel.
