Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThat I didn't get to stay long enough to make a fire :).
This is a lovely place. Comfortable with everything you can think of. The trees and animals make you feel like you are somewhere in the mountains, but at the same time very close to town to be able to do business and see the sights. Diana and George are lovely. Looking forward to going back.

The room was very comfortable. The surroundings are very beautiful and restful. The deck by the river is a wonderful place to cool off.

South AfricaEverything was lovely. Will be back for a longer stay next time.
Beautiful farm, garden and cottage. We unfortunately could only manage to stay one night but it was like being in a fairytale. Walk to the river, quietly sitting on the riverside bench and watching the horses made our short stay so memorable. It was cold but the fact that the cottage is carpeted, had electric blanket and heater made it very comfortable. Good quality linen and overall, very well equipped. Host Diane was friendly and welcoming. Her artworks on the walls throughout the cottage are lovely and most appreciated.

SingaporeA couple of amenities were less than perfect or malfunctioned during our stay. We informed our host of the situation (to which she responded swiftly), but seeing as we were only staying for a short while, there wasn't much she could have done. We were just unlucky. Despite the minor inconvenience, we had a lovely stay.
We booked the Garden Suite and stayed in September 2023. We were welcomed by our wonderful host (Diana) and her 3 co-hosts (2 dogs and a cat) when we arrived. She gave us a tour of the interior and guided us through the various amenities available. We were left alone to unpack but she was always reachable via call/WhatsApp. The place felt private and safe. The suite was nestled in a lush green enclave with foliage all around yet it didn't feel overgrown or too dense. From our room we could catch a view of some mountains off in the distance, as well as a view of the paddocks where we caught glimpses of some horses/ponies frolicking around. The sound of running water from the nearby river, the rustling of the trees as the wind blew as well as the chirping of birds greeted us every morning. Loadshedding was of little hinderance as there was backup power available on the property. Hot water for showering was also available. Several forms of heating devices were available to keep us warm throughout our stay. Microwave oven, washing machine, gas stove top and refrigerator worked wonderfully. The linen, towels and room were clean. Private parking was also available on the property. Wifi was good. Some points to consider, the property is a distance away from the nearest town (Stellenbosch) and there did not seem to be any other shops or restaurants nearby within walking distance (at least none that I was aware of). The nearest convenience store available was a Woolworths Foodstop in an Engen petrol station 3km away (30+ minutes walk).

South AfricaDuring the walkabout to the river, there seemed to be quite a few dog faeces on the walk paths.
The views were great, especially during the walk to the river. Having a variety of things/programmes to watch in TV, having the power even after Loadshedding hit. Also just having more than one option of keeping the room/bed warm. And privacy was respected.

South AfricaMattress was a little hard for me, and my wife would have liked a shower cap. No big deal.
Very quiet and pretty location. Charming host, and we loved the dogs :-). Suite was supplied with a few essentials (tea, milk, ...) which was nice. Load-shedding didn't affect essentials,

Such a beautiful little cabin in the woods, with a small fireplace inside & fire pit outside. You are surrounded by nature, lots of squirrels & horses in the paddocks around the cabin & beautiful scenery everywhere you look. The added bonuses were a really nice shower and the view from the bed.

Friendly owner, large room with everything you could need, solar panels so load shedding isn't much of a problem (huge plus in times where you have power from Eskom around 50% of the day). Very large and nice property. Uber rides to Stellenbosch were available.
