Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaWe went to hike at the Royal Natal National Park, which is about 15 minutes driven from Ledges Retreat. We had a wonderful stay at Ledges Retreat. The rooms are beautifully done and clean. The common kitchen is large and fully kitted. We ordered dinner on our second night, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, the place offers real value for money.

This place is excellent. Lovely staff, a great location amongst the mountains and a very nice room and dining facilities too. The Wi-Fi was also excellent. They also have a dog which was happy to be stroked. Very friendly.

United StatesWe chose to have our meals provided by the property. Dinner the first night was lovely full of vegetables, salads, and options for our vegetarian group. If I return, I will opt out of breakfast and bring my own supplies. The options were not our favorite- the juice and coffee are instant and a personal preference would be to eat earlier than 730a to start an early day of hiking. Overall, will book again!
The sunset!!! The view from our chalet was exceptional, the service and communication by every staff member was timely, courteous, and friendly. The accommodations were more than ample. Kitchen is well-stocked with all the pots and pans for cooking, though no seasonings but they inform you of this well in advance to be prepared. The natural pools just a short walk are a lovely spot to swim and read by the water.

South AfricaThere is no option for indoor seating when dining. We had to bring in the outdoor chairs. The bathroom door kept coming off the hinges so we couldn't open or close it properly. It would be nice to have a hairdryer in the room. The walls are a bit thin so sometimes you can hear other residents.
Nokwe (receptionist) is very friendly, accommodating and helpful. The Ledges Retreat is based in a beautiful and peaceful setting not too far from the local restaurants. The room is very cosy.

South AfricaEverything. This was the most fantastic stay! My room was amazing, with a bath and shower, and even though there was a communal kitchen, my room had a microwave and fridge, which I wasn't expecting. The meals were phenomenal, and the pool was out of this world. And most of all, I'm surprised and happy to find the entire road to the retreat was paved! So sick of hidden gravel roads.

AustraliaA couple of very minor things: the bathroom door was too heavy too close properly and the water pressure in the bathroom sink was almost too low to wash hands.
A little slice of paradise in an idyllic setting. Our stay was comfortable and warm, offering everything we needed to rest. The room was well appointed with tea and coffee making supplies, a fridge and tv. Bathroom was huge.

South AfricaThe Wild Black Berry tree located in the middle of all the activities attracted so many birds one could almost pick the birds like fruit. As a bird lover I fully enjoyed the activeness of all these birds. It was the 1st time I saw an entire flock of the African Olive Pigeons. The view of the mountain is stunning. There is a picnic spot next to the river which were flowing very strong during our stay. Based on the handwritten bord at the river, when it is not in flood, one could easily cool off in a pond in the river. The facility is ideally located for hiking or mountain-biking. The facilities are very clean, well looked after and one can definitely have a longer stay in the region. A definite repeat for us as a family :-)

Lovely B&b. Wel maintained rooms with nice bathroom ( bath & separate rain shower ) Set in a beautiful garden with swimming pool. Very quiet. Possibility to have Breakfast and dinner on site. We had an early morning excursion. A 'private breakfast' was waiting in our room when we returned after the excursion. Thank you for going the extra mile.
