How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The space was big enough to accomodate a family of 5, and the hosts were always available to assist with any request. The house has every utensils you may need as self-catering guests. We enjoyed everything about this space. To the hosts: Thank you for everything........a place I'm willing to book again, without a doubt.

There was no hand soap!
The property is in an excellent location and is very well equipped. We used Bloemfontein as a stopover for our holiday and would highly recommend Lisa village as it was very easy to get off and back onto the highway. The property has everything needed and the photos don’t do justice.

My wife was a little scared for steps to main bedroom. If it could get another safety rail at the open side, it would give more security for someone going up or coming down.
Was close to all places we had to visit. Rooms very spacious, including bathrooms, living room and kitchen.

The was a water leakage which was structural and could not be fixed while we were still there. Understandably this was beyond the control of the host.
1. The friendliness of the host. The host was very responsive to our requests. 2. The spaciousness of the townhouse. The rooms in this three-bedroomed townhouse are quite spacious. 3. The price point made this a truly value-for-money place to stay at.

The place was not clean when we arrived. The rubbish bin still had cigarette stumps and was smelly. The microwave needed to be cleaned with a detergent. Then there was a water leak from the roof or room upstairs into one of the bedrooms during our last two days. The extent of the work required was not possible while we were still in the townhouse.
The location and the facility/ property itself were excellent. The hosts ware very polite, welcoming and professional.

Quite a Few Steps to climb. Could be a problem for Elderly People or Small Children.
First I must say THANKYOU FOR KEEPING THE PRICE LOW! Traveling with a family of 5 could be quite expensive so it was good to not have to overspend on accommodation. Everything about the property exceeded our expectation! The main bedroom & bathroom is amazingly big and the bed is really comfortable. The sweets on our beds, wifi, coffee, sugar, 5 roses tea, ice blocks, cold water in the fridge and the mini rusks was such a beautiful extra touch. We felt so Loved and Blessed to have these little Extras. Especially because we arrived late and didn't have time to stop at a Spar to do grocery shopping - my mother really appreciated & enjoyed her cup of 5 roses tea after a 6/7 hr drive. It was all so clean and fresh. We felt like Royalty. The accommodation was superb compared to other places we've stayed. All we wanted was a safe, clean place with a warm comfortable bed and we got so much more! Thankyou and well done to the owners of this beautiful place.

The place was not clean. The bedding was dirty and looked like it was not changed. The bathrooms also were not clean and the ensuite toilet was so dirty that nobody could use it. The uncleanliness was very unappealing.

On Saturday the big problem was the water shortage! This made things a bit awkward. We also checked in early, around 11.00 and the previous visitors were still in. One of them forgot his ID card and we left it on the table. It was impossible to place keys and remote control in the lock box. I expected more towels in the bath rooms.
