It is not entirely clear on Booking.com which of the 3 units you are booking in this location. The pictures show you the patio and luxury of the largest unit, which also happens to have 3 bedrooms - the same as the very small, very much less luxurious room at the bottom of the drive. With no patio. It would be nice if these photos were separated so you could see which unit you are booking.

It was cold and there were no heaters in the lounge area. They had a wood stove that we didn't know how to use.

From the photos I expected our room to have a fireplace and bath. It's fine that it didn't but recommend it is clearly to people booking which rooms do have which facilities. (Or maybe I missed then- then ignore me!)

Furnishing inside unit looking a bit worn and need attention. Dining room chairs need to be repaired .Main sliding doors has glass cracked and the one of the latches has broken and needs to be fixed. Second bedroom has no clothes hanging space and dresser has no openings doors or draws. The second bedroom bathroom has no blinds or curtains plus no mirror. Main bathroom needs toilet seat to be replaced. In a bad state. Property needs attention.

When we arrived, there was no toilet paper available, which was quite irritating. The shower was moldy and hadn't been properly cleaned. The shower drain was also clearly blocked.

Walking distance to Clarens centre. The view from the property is beautiful. Lovely room and smart TV. Tons of space for bringing your pet.

There were cockroaches in the kitchenette area. No coffee pods were supplied. Many of the light bulbs need replacing in the lounge area. The furniture doesn’t match the picture of the property.

Very small rooms, no mirror to do hair in the main bedroom, general lack of storage in all the rooms, no place to hang clothes or put your suitcase. The bath towels provided were too small.

Unfortunately, the unit that we stayed in is nothing at all like the photos. I feel mislead. To begin with: No mirror in main bedroom. No dressing table. No dressing chair. No place to do your hair or make-up. In bathroom a mirror but NO place to put any toiletries or make-up. With no shower door everything that you put on toilet seat (only place to put ANYTHING except floor) get soaking wet. Except for 2 hooks NO place to hang anything – only a sideboard as a cupboard. The lights are extremely dimmed. The other two bedrooms are very very small with a small window each that is sandblasted and high up close to the ceiling. If you are claustrophobic – Stay Away. Maybe I could live with all this but what was the worst: THE SECOND BATHROOM IS ACTUALLY PART OF THE LIVING ROOM. Very very embarrassing for anyone to use it!!! Furthermore, is the view from the unit that we stayed in nothing like the one on the photo. It is obscured by trees and – I think – telephone and electricity cables. And worst of all some instructions by the host on the glass doors. The unit is also next to a dust road that is used by locals from their place to town which became noisy sometimes. The instructions on the door stated that we have to do our own dishes and put it away because it is not included in the contract with the Cleaning Company. I do not mind at all BUT: HOW DO I KNOW HOW CLEAN the DISHES ARE IF IT WAS DONE BY PREVIOUS USERS? I take it that the other unit is really nice - accordingly to the reviews that I rely on - but really our unit was the worse stay in Clarence we ever had and is definitely not worth the money. It will be ok for a couple with small children but definitely not for 4 adults. Not at that price. I feel terrible to be so negative but at the end, we all need honest feedback. I would suggest that the owner concentrate on the lovely unit that is advertised on Booking.com rather that trying to make money and force me to give such a bad rating.

definitely in need of a good clean. The upholstery on the dining room chairs were very dirty and the cover on the couch too. The plugs that the heaters were supposed to plug into didn’t work, so the main bedroom and house was freezing cold which did make it uncomfortable. I had to go and buy 2 cozy blankets in town for myself and daughter.

no instructions on how to use gas oven ups for tv not working - had too phone and spend time on disconnecting ups so tv can work - nobody came to fix ups problem. coffee pods and machine - no espresso or small cups - thus a 25ml espresso in a 375 ml cup fire place - no stoking equipment outside wall mounted lights - one is dead inside lights - of 4 lights one is dead in sitting room

This was by no means a luxury stay; it is rustic/country and old so it should be advertised and priced as such. The apartment did not look like the photos (these were mixed up on the site and misrepresented as some of the photos are old). The place, furniture and fixtures were old, dirty/grubby and lacking, especially for a family of 5 (let alone for its' capacity for 6 people). The 2 oil heaters were totally ineffective in warming up the place. The tiny fireplace was not effective in warming the living room and on arrival there was only a single piece of firewood that was too long to fit in the tiny fireplace and no matches provided. when we bought more wood the next day, it still did not help with the cold. the living room contained two small occasional chairs (different from the photos) and a day bed sofa. This was not adequate seating for our family of 5. The throw (different from photos) was so thin and not helpful in winter. the sofa itself is worn, dirty and had a bunch of flat, old cushions on it. The mirror in one of the rooms (twin beds) was missing a section. The kitchen utensils and crockery was grubby and the cupboards were dirty. The bathrooms were the worst. The toilets were not properly cleaned but in general all fittings were dirty. the shower floors contained so much black mildew and were grubby/sticky from not being cleaned properly that we were all reluctant to have a hot shower to warm up.
