Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaThe lodge is also an events venue and you will notice that fact. I felt like an afterthought. We couldn't go on a game drive because all the vehicles were fully booked by event-goers. They forgot to cater for us on the last night(we were supposed to have a cave dinner but when we arrived, we were told that the chef had only catered for a certain amount of people), we didn't get our cave dinner. Saturday night was a nightmare, we couldn't sleep due to the noise from an event that was being held at the lodge... I would not recommend the lodge for those looking for a completely PEACEFUL getaway. Dinner was incredibly underwhelming.
I liked the location, The cleanliness, the amazing breakfast, the friendly staff... it's a beautiful place.

South AfricaRooms can be cleaned more often as the rooms have thatch roofs and naturally attracts more flies, spiders etc.
Its a beautiful, well kept lodge with lots of game visible all around the lodge. There is a quite a lot of activities to do or you can just relax by one of the pools or in the jacuzzi if you prefer.

South AfricaIf they repaired the problems I reported and replaced the dirty bedding. We had to wash out of the basins as the bath's plug was leaking to quickly and this they couldn't attended to within our three day stay. We were not informed of the costs for dinner and neither was it stated on the bill after dinner, it's way to expensive and would rather drive 40 minutes into town to go and eat. Dinner's quality and quantity wasn't worth the price.
The aircon in our room made the nights pleasant.

South AfricaThe rooms are very spread out so would have been nice if my request for a closer room was granted. They had a wedding which meant no activities for the normal guests and we then also found out that the only activity for the 5year old was the game drive however there is a cheetah experience in modimolle that was very nice that we drove out to do. The food was probably my biggest gripe. R340 Per person for dinner and each night was a basic braai type meal, chicken and rice or pap each night, sometimes chops, bangers or meat balls (very strange choices) with no extra cooked sauce and ur basic potato salad/Greek salad/slaw and malva and custard for dinner. Not worth the price and very boring, no real vegetarian options unless u consider broccoli and cauliflower bake a veg meal. So needles to say we didn't really eat dinner. Tv channel options were terrible.
The staff were lovely and accommodating. Very friendly and happy. The accommodation was lovely. The rooms are very nice, the bar, lounge and boma are pretty and the rock cave would be a lovely place to have dinner. The ordered/restaurant lunches were well priced and delicious. The breakfasts were also yummy and a decent variety. The drinks were also well priced. The game drive was nice and a lovely driver. Jacuzzi was nice but got a tad brown by day 3.

South AfricaThe pieces of litter dotted around the camp paths, driveways and surrounding estate and in the particular large amount of litter just off the veranda of our unit was very disappointing. At midday when we arrived and walked around the estate, the jacuzzi still had many empty glasses and bottles surrounding the tub. Not the standard that I expect from an establishment claiming to be a luxury game lodge.
The room was clean and comfortable. Use of the pool was very pleasant. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

South AfricaOne of the reasons why we picked this place was because of the cave dinning. However, I felt they should have mentioned that they need a min of 20 guests for cave dining, which we did not have. Dinner for one person was R343 (no drinks included). The dinner consisted of 2 salads, some sausages, chicken wings, a lamb potjie and dessert which we really didn’t feel was worth R686 for a couple. Cool drinks are around R37 for a 300ml. Lastly our lights went off as we were preparing to shower and goto bed. The Maintanence came, but said the main switch was in the other guests bedroom so they can’t get in as they were sleeping. We woke up in the morning and when my partner went into the shower, there were spider webs. They did offer us another room to shower when we were having breakfast but by then we had to leave. There’s a lot of potential at the place, but I am not sure if the target market is for foreigners as the extra costs is not justifiable for South Africans.
The staff was really warm and friendly, and you could see some bucks roaming around the accommodation which was really nice.
