The fact we had to leave.....

Fabulous new hotel in Franschhoek .. well I say hotel but it was more like staying in someone's home.. and a very very nice one at that... And one that you do not want to leave...The grounds are absolutely stunning with the views of the mountains ...and the pool is fantastic... and actually the warmest one I have been in during my many trips to South Africa.. normally they are freezing.... ! The effort and thought that has gone into the design and aesthetics of Monument House is mind blowing.. every little creative detail.. you notice more and more as each day goes by .. no load shedding.. this goes without saying of course.. Wendy and Nishan.. the creators of this amazing space are fantastic hosts and certainly know how to create a top notch guest experience... from the concierge service (booking restaurants and transport) to the personally served drinks by the pool, to the free wine and treats in the room, to the beautifully styled bedroom and bathroom, and very comfortable beds .. what more could anyone want? Ingenious concept of the breakfast Odyssey that gets you to experience other places in the village.. Le Cotte was my favourite with its stunning views across the beautiful Franshhoek valley .. would love to go back to MH again and stay in one of the bigger apartments .. Thank you Wendy and Nishan.. just incredible.

Absolutely everything! Wendy and her husband are the best and most welcoming hosts. Their residence is amazing and decorated to the last detail with such perfection and beauty. Loved everything about this place and the fact that they also book you breakfast in other hotels which we found super nice as a concept as it allows you to visit other places in the area! Would definitely come back here and highly recommend a stay here if in the area. The absolute best!

Not much not to like!

What an amazing property. The room and grounds were absolutely stunning. It was very hot when we stayed and the A/C worked well, including during load shedding. Wendy was fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us including arranging transport and restaurant bookings. Highly recommended.

Monument House is a beautiful and very design orientated small boutique hotel. Wendy, one of the owners, decorated the apartments very thoughtful and stylish. Surrounded by a breathtaking view Monument House is located only a short walk away from beautiful Franschhoek. A marvelous Garden and pool gives a perfect ambient to relax. Within the apartments there is everything one can need for a luxurious and relaxing stay. The hosts are very caring and thoughtful. We had an amazing stay and wish to come back in the future :) highly recommended!

Nothing could have been better!

I have been fortunate to stay in some incredible properties all over the world. To say that this place ranks among the best boutique hotels I’ve ever stayed in would be an understatement! This is a relatively small property with several self-contained apartments / villas, and a couple of suites, surrounding a pretty pool and sunbathing area. The design and decor of the apartments and the property as a whole is incredible. The premium fixtures and fittings, and the upscale design shows that it has clearly been a passion project for Wendy, the owner and host! I wouldn’t hesitate to come back here, and I hope I can visit again soon.

Monument House is a labor of love. Wendy’s history with interior design goes back over two decades and it shows. Our cottage was meticulously and tastefully designed, and the longer I looked around me, the more details I did see. Actually, the whole estate oozes thoughtfulness. The gardens are a delight to be in, as is the pool if weather allows. The location is beautiful, near the mountain slopes just a few hundred meters from the Southern edge of Franschhoek, so many restaurants are within walking distance. A lot of attention is paid to security. Wendy is a lively, friendly person who will do her utmost to make you feel at home, as is her husband Nishan. On arrival we found the cottage appointed with wine, snacks, and some food - and could make our own G&T! Breakfast is through vouchers for local high end (hotel)restaurants. Just a short drive or walk, and I like some variety to my mornings. You could very well prepare your own breakfast in a cottage though if you so desire, as there is a full kitchen. If you want a luxury stay in Franschhoek, I can strongly recommend Monument House.

Nestled in the heart of this enchanting region, we discovered an absolute gem—the luxury five-star villa that left us awestruck. From the moment we arrived until our reluctant departure, every aspect of our stay was nothing short of extraordinary. Upon entering the villa, we were greeted by a lavish and tastefully decorated interior that seamlessly blended modern elegance with a charming Cape Dutch aesthetic. The attention to detail was impeccable, as each room boasted a unique character, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship and thought put into the design. Our jaws dropped at the sight of the expansive living area, which featured floor-to-ceiling windows offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and vineyards. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the outdoor area. The villa's sprawling grounds encompassed a meticulously landscaped garden, a sparkling checkered infinity pool, and a well-appointed terrace with comfortable seating areas. What truly set this villa apart was its exceptional service. Wendy went above and beyond to ensure our every need was met, anticipating our desires before we even voiced them. Her attentiveness and professionalism were second to none. It was clear that our comfort and satisfaction was her top priorities. Our stay here was nothing short of amazing—a truly unforgettable experience that we will cherish for years to come. Will give it a solid 10/10.

The accommodation was exceptional. One of the best places we have ever been to. The hosts Wendy and Nishan were absolutely fabulous. Breakfasts in different locations worked very well and allowed us to see more places in Franschhoek. If we could, we would give 12 points. Excellent!

Going out to breakfast provided us with extra insight into the area but it would perhaps be nice to have an “in house” option.

Wendy is a wonderful hostess and provides everything you could wish for in a luxurious setting. The views are superb. The town is only a short walk away with many lovely shops and restaurants.

Beautifully designed rooms, with welcoming hosts and everything you could ask for in luxury accommodation. The grounds are stunning with 360 views of the mountains to match. Perfect location for exploring Franschhoek, the centre and tram stop a short walk and excellent taxi service for going further afield.

We had an absolutely idyllic stay at Monument House over four days in early January 2023. The property is newly completed and elegantly designed and furnished: an enormous bedroom and similarly sized ensuite made us feel truly pampered, and enjoying one of the (many) complimentary drinks while sat on our private rooftop viewing terrace made for truly memorable sundowners. Indeed, being nestled in the foothills of Franschoek the property enjoys stunning panoramic views, while still only a (leisurely) ten minute walk into the town. The hosts Wendy and Nishan were absolutely fabulous. Perennially cheerful, they are also excellent cooks and the freshly prepared afternoon treats were delicious (albeit not great for the waistlines). While we could happily have spent all our time lounging by the pool, Wendy and Nishan gave lovely recommendations for enjoying the best Franschhoek and the neighbouring wine region has to offer. They even booked complimentary breakfasts at different restaurants for each day of our stay.

The accommodation was exceptional,the design and attention to detail both in the rooms and the landscape and the setting of the property made for just an amazing stay Wendy and the team were wonderful ,I have stayed in some pretty amazing places in my lifetime and this is absolutely one of the best ,I would highly recommend this location to anyone who wants to unwind ,relax and do some fenominal wine tasting and dining Hard to beat !
