Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayThe bar had very limited choices of cocktails.
Breakfast was nice. They had fruit/yoghurt and then you could order omelett/different variations of eggs. We had our own splash pool. Dinner was fixed menus but the food was good. Though in the middle of a game reserve the lodge was fenced and safe to move around in. The lodge is very remote so book with at least breakfast and dinner there absolutely no alternatives within 60 km. If you are going to Mapungubwe national park there is a restaurant with very limited choices of meals. If you want to go on game drives or walks - book early.

SwitzerlandThe Mopane Bush Lodge is located in a beautiful reserve, close to the Mapunguwe park and monument. It’s certainly worthwhile to drive there. Food and service are very good and you can feel the passion for the wildlife in this place. Especially the two guides Christian and Michael are doing excellent guidings 😊🙏🏽

South AfricaIt was an extremely warm day - as expected of the area this time of the year. The aircon in the chalet couldn't keep up with cooling down the entire space efficiently. It made sleeping a little bit uncomfortable. The boma, where dinner was served, was also extremely warm but the staff was very accommodating and helpful and moved us to the pool area. The ambience was however spoiled a little bit by the Talk Show on the TV in die bar area.
The food served was exceptional and the staff was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. We loved the chalet with the private pool which came in very handy to cool off in. We enjoyed selecting our own wine in the nicely stocked wine cellar.

The rooms are very spurious and comfor table. Thae staff was willing to go an extra mile to satisfy us. The great food and the beautiful, well stocked cellar we unexpected. Thank Gugu for making us feel at home. Even when we were leaving, they provided ice for our long drive back to Gauteng.

A real gem of a place, less well known than the bigger reserves and much quieter which meant we often had the game drive to ourselves with an extremely knowledgeable guide, Jethro. Food was better than restaurant quality and portions were perfect all delivered by friendly staff whose customer service skills were excellent (our own hospitality sector could learn a few things from the South Africans!).

BelgiumBoth the game drives I participated in lasted about 2.5h instead of communicated 3h (including about a 30min sundowner or coffee stop). Suggestion for improvement: perhaps offering a small fridge in the tent to keep water cool.
I stayed in one of the tents in the Wilderness camp, about 20min from the Mopane Bush Lodge within the same private game reserve. I do like the different options offered, so this is a great place to stay, whether if you're a solotraveler, a couple, family or a group of friends. The outdoor bathroom was beautiful and the tent was spacious and had a great bed! The entire property was clean and had great staff. I would stay again!

United KingdomThe only thing I can think of is that if you chased away the crocodile in the water-hole, more game may come there to drink.
Lovely place in a remote bush location, impressive standards, delicious food, very pleasant bedroom in a rondavel with its own little swimming pool and things work! Very kind and helpful staff, I even found something in the gift shop I wanted. I hope to go back sometime.

South AfricaThere were no signs/ pamphlets/ no communication pertaining to one’s encounter with wildlife. On our way from the parking area to our tent, we encountered a Hyena on the pathway leading to our tent. Whilst I didn’t find this moment to be amazing at the time, I am grateful my partner has experience with wildlife and dealing with situations alike; but some notice/ guidance would’ve been really great. Also, the staff at the tented accommodation are non-existent.
The tents were beautifully placed and decorated. The area was exceptionally stunning. Tranquil setting for some much needed quiet time.

South AfricaWith so much attention to detail, one cannot wish for anything more. Dinners were served in the boma around an inviting camp fire that enhanced the bushveld atmosphere. The three course menus offered a variety of the finest haute cuisine. Well executed excursions offered by the Lodge completed the safari experience one dreams of. This part of the country is truly underrated and a real hidden gem.

South AfricaThe is no restaurant by the wild tents. You have to drive just below 6 km to the lodge where the restaurant is using an off-road route. If you have a high clearance car like we did, then it is not a problem however the road had a lot of deep pools due to the rains and driving on the road without a 4 wheel drive car became difficult and time consuming. We ended up spending around 40 for a round trip from the tents to the lodge and back. We had to do that two times in a day.
The place was amazing. Near the Mapungubwe entrance. We even requested to meet the chefs to compliment them personally, thats how amazing the food was. The wild tents were amazing. The heritage walk and drive was very informative. The game drive to the confluence was very beautiful and scenic. That where we saw a lot of animals.

South AfricaGate access control from main road- intercom does not work, we had to wait a while before the gate was opened.
The place exceeded our expectations. Our room was upgraded at no additional cost. Very clean and comfortable. The staff and management team were very friendly and went out of their way to accommodate our requests. The barman/waiter, Tshepo, was the best! The meals are delicious, always fresh and portion sizes were big. Will definitely visit again!
