The dam in front of the accommodation was not productive in regards fishing and the other dams only by float-tube (although you can rent these). We were on our way back from Dullstroom and I have to say that the fishing does not hold a candle to that of Dullstroom (selected areas of course). It might be a good idea to have some ventilation in the huts since not everyone realises that they need to crack a window when the fireplace is going. No internet and you need to bring your own decoder if you want to watch TV (which I cannot imagine you would want to...)

Nice wood accommodations close to the trout waters. Ample wood and cozy fireplace. Gas backup is provided in case of load shedding.

Power outage from 6am to 11am every morning put a damper on things but there is a gas stove to make coffee in that time.

Cosy cottage tucked away in the mountains, with unlimited wood supply to keep the fireplace burning on those cold winter days (and nights). The host was patient with us and made sure to direct us to the cottage well after our expected ETA.

I loved the scenery and location

Not a fault of the venue, but the farm roads leading to it can pose a challenge for vehicles without off-road capabilities. Heavy rains meant our car had some slippery trouble climbing up a hill and over some muddy farm roads. However, Josie, the hostess came to our rescue and helped us navigate through the hazard by coming out to meet us and driving ahead. A vehicle with high clearance recommended. 4x4 ideally, especially when it's wet.

Rustic, wooden cabins nestled in a grove of pine trees overlooking a quaint little valley with trout fishing dams. Lots of bird-life, including a really cute family of ducks living their best lives on the water. I believe we also spotted some fish eagles, monkeys and dozens of other birds and animals. The biodiversity is really wild! The owners have cultivated an absurdly picturesque place filled to the brim with dozens of different types of flora and fauna. It's got just the right mix of wild and serene. Amazing.

If you have a small car, it’s not as easily accessible but still doable

This property is located on an avo farm just outside Haenertsburg. The lodgers cabin we stayed in was perched on top of the mountain where you have a spectacular view when the sun is out. Although there is no electricity, you hardly noticed it with the solar lights and the ever stoked donkey for warm water. They were kind enough to make sure there always is enough wood to keep the fires going and filtered fresh water to drink.
