The treatment when we asked for few minutes to clear the room didn't sit well, and the way the co-host reacted made us feel unwanted and not paying customers.

The property is easy to access, the rooms were clean and the balanced breakfast. The hosts were superb, made sure we felt at home at all times and prepared a delicate dinner taking into our allergies.

A paradise! The reality far exceeds the photos. The setting is worthy of a fairy-tale movie, with the evening wood fire releasing tropical scents and a breathtaking landscape! Ruan and his wife are welcoming and attentive. On the last day, I fell ill and Ruan provided me with the necessary medication. On the first day, not having booked anything to do, he arranged a small safari for me. The food is delicious, although South African cuisine is quite unique and may not appeal to those accustomed to European and American cuisine. However, at Muunga Lodge, everything is delicious! The cherry on top is that the body care products such as lotion and shampoo are homemade. On the day of departure, even though the check-out time is at 10am, they allowed me to stay until my flight time. I highly recommend Muunga Lodge!

If you’re looking at this review, book this accommodation! You will stay in a beautifully designed intimate lodge that is spotless and clean, with hosts that are true masters of hospitality. Every detail is considered with care, everything you need will be handled. For the price they far exceeded our expectations. You will receive 5+ star service, incredible food, and (if you wish) great conversation. We will personally tell anyone we know coming to the area to stay here. Oh my goodness, EXCEPTIONAL in every way!! Ruan and Janie, such amazing hosts, welcoming, friendly, helpful but also respectful of your privacy. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome, lots of recommendations for eating out and the local area, they even let us borrow their bikes so that we could explore the beautiful nature reserve that the property is situated in! (We saw Kudu, waterbuck, warthog and warthog babies!! Mongoose etc) The whole ambience of this place is incredible and the decor is beyond beautiful!! So tranquil and stylish yet relaxed and comfortable - we absolutely loved it here!!! Oh and we loved the honesty bar too! Room was so lovely and super comfortable! I could go on . . . Our stay was short and we did not get a chance to explore other activities on offer such as massages, bicycle rides etc.

Where does one begin? You have to visit the lodge in person to experience it for yourself... From the moment you arrive, you feel welcome and right at home. The owners made sure that we felt welcomed and our stay was fantastic. The lodge is tastefully decorated and this also extends to the rooms. The place has a beautiful aroma - so wherever you are, you just get this beautiful fragrance 🙂. The location is great. The lodge is private & intimate and you are surrounded by beauty & nature. The place is tranquil and the bed was comfortable. We had scrumptious breakfast and dinner. We left inspired and feeling like we had made new friends. Thank you so much for your outstanding hospitality. We appreciate all that you did to make sure that our stay was comfortable & memorable. We appreciate the conversations that we had and we are definitely coming back.

This was our favourite from all our accomodations we've stayed in South Africa and here's why: - Jenny & Ruan are amazing hosts that go above & beyond to make your stay memorable - Beautiful interior design of the lodge with a unique touch. They've done everything by themselves and I would immediately hire them as my interior architects :-) - Wonderful garden with great views of the Drakensberg mountains. Bushbabies might even stop by for a visit in the evening! - Possibility to do Safaris right around the corner (Ruan is also a trained guide) - Place to go for wine lovers, Ruan is also a professional in the wine field! - Breakfast is freshly prepared and delicious! We loved the fresh fruits and Musli as well as the delicious Omelettes. Also they prepared dinner just for the two of us and it was a very nice and romantic dinner!

The weekend was shorter.

This weekend felt more like a family vacation but with privacy. The hosts welcomed us very well. They have a baby in the property but that's the most well-behaved baby i did not even hear a single cry from a 11-month old baby. All in all i will highly recommend that place if you want peace and tranquility. Even the guests they had were such a breath of fresh air. Definitely returning for another weekend.
