Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaMy family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Mziki Safari Lodge for four nights, and it was an experience to remember. From the moment we stepped into the Family Suite, we were greeted with an ambiance of exquisite luxury. The attention to detail in the design and amenities truly made our stay comfortable and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our stay was the culinary experience crafted by Chef Kego. Every meal was a delightful journey for the taste buds. The game drives led by Zola and Devan were not only exciting but also highly informative. They shared their extensive knowledge of the local wildlife, making each drive both educational and enjoyable. Special thanks to Zola for his dedication in guiding my son through the ranger course. It was heartwarming to see him learn valuable skills like shelter-making, water purification, fire-making, and animal tracking, all under Zola’s expert guidance. The sundowner game drives were another highlight of our stay, offering breathtaking views of the African landscape as the sun dipped below the horizon. Throughout our time at Mziki Safari Lodge, we were consistently impressed by the warm hospitality of Manuela and her team. Their attention to detail and commitment to ensuring our comfort made our stay truly unforgettable. We will definitely be back!

GermanyLovely, very personal safari lodge not too far from Johannesburg. Safari guide and staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Rondavel rooms give very authentic, unique feeling of being in close to nature. Fantastic food and calm, tranquil grounds to relax on. Safari ride was fantastic! Needed to stay longer next time.

United StatesFinding the property was difficult. And an adventure in and of itself. And road/roads to property were a bit rough. But the payoff is well worth the journey.
Staff was amazing. The safari guides wore many hats, but they were always helpful and went out of their way to make sure you had an informative and interactive experience. I would give this place my highest recommendation.

South AfricaThe tap water has a very earthy taste (even when filtered). It would have been an added extra to have bottled water supplied in the rooms.
Overall a great mini-break. Easily accessible from Johannesburg for a weekend away, or longer. Knowledgeable game rangers with a passion for the bush. Game drives are twice a day. The luxury family rooms are beautiful and private. Mobile spa facilities are available.

South AfricaThis is not about the property, but more about the road leading towards the property - it’s terrible, and needs repair.
Host, Manuella is welcoming, warm and friendly. Our main guide was Zola, who’s incredible at his job - well informed, attentive and excellent in spirit. Kego, the chef was amazing. The game drives are worth it - so make sure you do both the morning and evening drives.

NetherlandsSome minor points are: Google directions are misdirecting at the last part of the drive in. One should follow the signs (even in the dark); The rooms could do with a bit more / closed off closet space and a new couch.
Mziki is a hidden gem. A beautiful, developing game reserve with a lodge that provides good, simple food and simple, functional rooms. The lodge is on the reserve (=+/- 5x5 km) and a short drive from the entrance. No 4x4 needed, normal car will do (with careful driving). The rooms are modern and properly equipped. Modernized bathrooms. Open Wifi, including in the rooms.

South AfricaThe food could have been a bit better... More braais and better quality meat / fish would have been great. I enjoyed the venison stews and pap & sauce. Coffee was available in abundance but very weak - probably prepared by someone who doesn't drink it... The buffet was freshly made, with love but if you are fussy with food, be prepared to eat what you get and bring your own treats. The souvenir shop doesn't have attractive stuff, which is a pity because people have so much time to enjoy shopping ☺️
It is a very genuine safari place. We have been there 10 years ago and came back again this year and nothing has changed, in the good sense. The service is excellent and discrete. The place is genuinely integrated in the nature but the rooms are very comfortable and attended twice per day while you are out for the game drives (including different chocolates every night). Nice boma environment for all the meals. No monkeys on the property so you can leave the windows and door opened The swimming pool is cool but great ! You can relax, read, swim and not feel the others' presence around if you don't want to or enjoy their company. The guests seem to be international and well educated, easy to bond with ☺️ The game drives and rangers! Are excellent 🦒🐘🦏🐒🦓🐃🐗🦖 The property has 6000 ha and about 20 guests driving around... The animals are shy as they should be in a natural environment but the rangers are very good and tenacious and make you discover something outstanding at each and every drive. They are knowledgeable and attentive without talking too much, so you can enjoy the ride 😉 We had Zola and Chris and they were great! We saw elephants, rhinos (de horned to avoid poaching 😒), giraffes, buffalos, warthogs, kudu, nyala, red haartebeest, blessbok, reedbok, zebra, gnu, impala, baboons, vervet monkeys, crocodiles and lots of birds, big and small. Extraordinary sightings ❤️

South AfricaThe game drives. The thick bush and number of animals make them hard to spot, and it took us 3 drives to spot wildlife. It was both a negative and positive, the crocks were really beautiful, and so was our sunset drinks. No Elephants were found by our game drives so disappointed 😞
This was one of the best staff at a lodge I was privileged to meet. There attention to service was superb. Every interaction was fantastic. The lodge is truly child friendly and the staff are very helpful. The food prepared was on point and the staff really go the extra mile to accommodate you. Fishing was spectacular, once again thank you to the staff for this wonderful experience.
