How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. We had asked for a late check-out. The lovely lady at Reception was off on the weekend and 2 men had replaced her. I had told her that we were happy to pay for this service. Our flight was only at 5pm that day. There was no trust that I would pay! Someone knocked on my door twice on Sunday morning. The reason for my delay - Both my daughter and I were sick. Me more than her. I called her and made her pay to avoid a third knock. I can only imagine that some guests would leave without paying, but learn to know your guests. We had lots of luggage, so there was no way we would be able to slip away.
The Lady at Reception was amazing. She was helpful, friendly and professional. It was my birthday. She found a vase my for my roses. Many thanks!

Arrived with my motor bike and was humbled by the friendliness of the staff. Due to time constraints, could not enjoy full breakfast, but the coffee was excellent

The down part is that, for the price you pay, the least you can provide is a bottle of water, intercom to front desk and WiFi. I was told to drink the water from the tap ( if we could trust the water from the tap considering recent issues faced in SA, there would be no problem) when I queried from front desk on whether I could get a bottle of water charge to the room or from the restaurant, which was abit 🙃
The hotel as a whole is awesome. Location is awesome Most staff were awesome. It was very clean.

only things the property needs to work on is the entrance. i scraped my bumper very badly as the road dips down and goes up very harshly and loose bricks on the ground does not make it easier. So a not, unless you have a suv or 4x4 you’ll probably scrape going in and out. Another thing is their pool. it is outside in the open and not very private, would be much better if it were located privately away from the view of public people going to the cafe.
rooms are very comfortable, bathroom is neat and tidy. corridors are quiet and plenty of parking.

The WiFi sucks! I had to work while I was staying here, but couldn't connect at all.
Perfect location for the Two Oceans Marathon. Free coffee and bananas were a special touch and appreciated! We could walk to the Cavendish mall and the in-house restaurant was perfect for breakfast. Very cool to have a yoga studio building.

The breakfast was definitely the weakest part of the stay. The eggs and beans were not tasty, fresh fruit was covered with fruit flies, and the croissants were stale. This was a huge disappointment given the high standards of the food culture in Cape Town. I enjoyed the ginger muffins those were unique and different.
The location is nice and central. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The WIFI worked well.

Fantastic location as we were visiting our son who is studying at UCT and is at Campus Key Rosebank. Cavendish Mall was close by which was also useful. Really great Italian restaurant, Mama Roma within a kilometre.

a good hotel for a short stay. I thought that the restaurant was a little expensive for what you got, but there is an alternative just across the road.

Rooms were a bit small and we didn't get any shower gel or soap. Didn't get milk on day 2. Not the best views. But perfect for a weekend stay in the city.
The location was perfect for the Two Oceans. 400 m from the start. Well situated and close to everything.

I would have liked to have a bar fridge in the room.
Great convenient location if taking part in the Two Oceans Marathon. It was literally a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The complimentary coffee and banana the morning of the race was a nice touch.

Security into the hotel is a bit of a concern. Our friends were able to access their rooms via the parking without having to tag on, therefore anyone could access the building without an access card
Clean and modern rooms. Close enough to shops and restaurants to be able to walk. There is a self-catering area with ovens, microwaves, airfryers, fridges and freezers that was very convenient!

the restaurant I think is a little pricy for what you get, but very nice.

Location was perfect for our stay. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The cafe had great breakfast with freshly made bread. Additional shops were also within walking distance so I definitely recommend this place. Next time I'll use the gym and pool.

As already experienced during an earlier stay, the set-up of the showers results in water spilling into the whole bathroom; either sink hole is too small or gradient not appropriate or shower head not suitable. Should be looked at. Not providing any body soap or shampoo is unusual for a property with 4 stars and at this price bracket. The TV is enthusiastically marketed as a "smart TV" on which you can log on to your own Netflix etc account. However, if you don't have one, you won't be watching any TV :-(
Very friendly staff. Great initiative to treat Comrades marathon runners to bananas and coffee very early morning pre-race and even more so to make one room available where we could shower post-race, despite the fact that we had checked out early morning

Better quality of pillows, also the hand shower is our bathroom was faulty. When you shower that whole bathroom floor get wet.
