Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South Africawe had difficulty with the oven, always have done since we started going there, probably 4 years ago. I don’t think it works. Also there are two door handles that don’t work once you are inside. the guest loo and one of the bedrooms don’t open from the inside.

GermanySome of the rooms didn’t have electricity and we couldn’t get ahold of the owner because he was abroad. The cleaner was amazing and she organoides an electrician to come and fix the problem which was sorted within a day but 2 of the 4 bedrooms and bathrooms had no electrical supply for one night out of our 3 night stay.
The property is perfect for a group!

South AfricaSome minor maintenance is required, changing of lightbulbs ect, but I was aware that the owner was overseas during our stay, and he was still very helpful via what's app. There was a door handle to be fixed and was sorted first thing the next morning.
Gugu is so wonderful! She serviced the rooms daily and made us feel so welcome! An absolute gem! So peaceful on the reserve and we felt extremely safe! The lodge is lovely, really love the open plan! Definitely recommend booking the whole place out for a family getaway! It was really special!

South AfricaThe Aircons in 3/4 rooms are not working but they all do have fans. Not even an issue as you're going to want to spend all your time outside :)
The lodge was breathtaking. The open plan social areas were beautiful and the kitchen had all the necessary appliances etc. The outside area is perfect for the rainy days - completely Proctected from the rain. Pool is way bigger than it looked In the pictures! The rooms and en suites are so spacious, the showers are amazing and the hot water had no issues throughout the stay. The owner was exceptionally kind - even called in the night with a question and he was absolutely helpful. It's such a great, private setting. Only about 30 km from the memorial gate entrance. Would definitely recommend this spot!!

South AfricaThe oven and microwave though working, needs a service. This has been communicated with the owners and I'm sure will be sorted soon. They are very accommodating and easy to get ahold of. The rooms are each on separate wings and don't directly open into the main common area. Mainly an issue for family’s with kids because one wouldn't want to keep them alone in the room. No pool cover. The one room ac remote was not working, but again, should be sorted soon as the owners have been made aware. It's abit far from the the imfolozi park where the big game like rhino, elephants etc can be spotted..so leave early for a day drive allowing enough time to be back out the entrance gate before the game reserve closes(download the map and plan ahead). Very poor reception in the chalet(as one would expect) so recommend Google research for the trip be done ahead of time.
Very clean, neat and comfortable. Bush life with a luxury feel. All amenities available made self catering very easy. Lovely outdoor area set up. Very private rooms for big families travelling together who still want some privacy. Owners are accommodating.

South AfricaThe house is immaculate and very spacious. Beds are super comfy and huge. The entertainment place is the best part that's where we spent most of our time. The outside showers were such an amazing experience. Gugu is the most nicest and helpful person. She keeps everything so clean and perfect. She services the house daily. We really enjoyed our stay at Nguni lodge. Location was perfect and there was plenty of peace and tranquility. If you love animals and nature this place is perfect. We can't wait to back 😊

United KingdomWe reported mulitple problems on arrival to the owner, Andrew. He was defensive and had mutliple excuses for all the problems. Some issues were addressed but there were ongoing difficulties with the facilities, not least of all electrical problems with lighting and the last night of our stay - we had no electricity at all for 2 hours. It later dawned on us that this was most likely an episode of 'load shedding' however we were not communicated this by the staff or owner and were lucky we had finished cooking. We ended our stay in some confusion and darkness which we could have prepared for had we known. I do not recommend staying at this lodge. Have a look elsewhere - there are other lodges on Kuleni Private Game Farm and multiple choices in the area.
The setting was lovely and the property, if properly maintained, could have made this trip unforgettable. Instead, our stay here was, regrettable.

South AfricaThe house is tired. It is obvious that the owner is not maintaining the property, nor have they actually been on the property for some time. Most of the lamps in the house don't work. The toaster doesn't work. The fans don't work. The TV doesn't work. The drawers in the kitchen don't open as they are off their runners, the same for the dustbin unit. The LED lanterns provided were not charged, so of no help during load-shedding. The frying pans are in a disgusting state, something you would expect to find in a backpackers, not an "upmarket" lodge. Bathmat had a hole the size of a side plate. Two planks on the the walkway to the house collapsed whilst my son was walking on them, as the nails are rusted through, causing him to fall through it and seriously injure both his legs. There is litter scattered around the house. We had lodge washing on the line during our whole stay. Plastic buckets lying around. Most importantly, the house was not prepared for us on arrival. We arrived just after 2pm, and had to wait until 4:30 pm before we could go in, as the house had not been cleaned after the previous occupants left 2 days earlier. This wasted our whole afternoon. This is not good enough for the amount of money you are paying.
Location was great.

South AfricaHaving to exit the house in order to get into the bedrooms. The exceptionally rude Person who came to attend to the continuous power tripping. His beligerent and aggressive attitude together with his abusive foul language to me and my family was completely unacceptable. His insinuation that we were fabricating the power tripping was beyond reason.

South AfricaI was a bit disappointed that when you email you do not receive a response so you unsure if your request has been acknowledged. Other, than this petty issue, there is nothing to be disappointed about.
Loved everything about the place. The clean dishes and crockery. Clean rooms, bed, linen and furniture. Sparkling pool. This place is true perfection and certainly exceeded our expectations. Gugu is spectacular and takes care of all your needs. Greatly appreciated the welcome wine and goodies. Air cons work well in all rooms.
